"Hazel?" Rowan called from behind. "You should get going now. It's getting late," Lily said with a smile. Rowan walked over, wrapped his arms around Hazel's waist while Lily left the garden. She let him lead her to the car without a word. She'd heard about it. It shouldn't be much of a surprise, but still. Hazel knew the fight that comes between sons concerning who'll take over the company. And what hurts most is seeing Lily taking sides. Rowan's also her son. For generations, the Locke's family had chosen its heir by capabilities. From a very young age, children are watched, tested to know who'll fit in best to carry on the legacy. It wasn't his fault he had more ability. "You're quiet," Rowan called, he pressed a kiss to her temple as he settled in beside her. She hugged him. Tight.
