Caden’s POV
I didn’t mean for it to happen. Hell, I didn’t even plan to take things this far.
But when I found myself standing outside her door, my heart pounding harder than it ever had in any fight, I knew I couldn’t walk away this time.
Not again. I had knocked before I had time to second-guess myself, and when the door opened, there she was.
She looked at me like she couldn’t believe I was real. Her eyes lingered on me, trailing over my lips, my jaw, before she quickly caught herself and hardened her expression.
She cleared her throat and tried to act indifferent. “There’s no need for that,” she said in response to my question if she won’t let me in, her voice clipped.
