Part 4: Mr. Right It was two years since Marlon and Maranda broke up and it seemed that he finally moved on with his life. This was a breath of fresh air for Maranda as she could dedicate all of her time to her medical degree. She had two more years left for her MBBS and then another two for specialization and then she will officially be Dr. Maranda Cassandra Myers, neurologist and cardiologist. She couldn’t wait this has been her dream since she could speak. Maranda was rushing to head to her General Surgery class. She was going to be so late, that damn printer. How could it stick in the middle of printing her assignment? In her haste Maranda failed to notice the sexy wall of muscle heading towards her until she slammed into him, scattering her assignment and books on the floor. “I am really sorry,” he said bending to help her pick up her documents. “I am sorry as well,” she replied without looking up, “and thanks.” Without looking back she rushes to class to face her exam, Dr. Marcano doesn’t give them a break. If it isn’t an exam or an assignment if they are lucky, it’s both if they are not. Today is one of those unlucky days. After General Surgery it was Brain and Behaviour with the lovely Dr. Marcano again. “Maranda, you are officially a criminal. You are the only second year mad enough to choose not one but two courses with Dr. Marcano,” she scolded herself, feeling exhausted beyond measure. When it was finally lunch time, Maranda headed to the cafeteria with her ‘belly in her hands'. She ordered a chicken and shrimp Alfredo with a bottle of water and sat at a table waiting for Camille and Kesha. After ten minutes she sees them dragging their feet obviously fed up and ready to turn in for the day. Camille was doing her BSc in Communication while Kesha was doing her BSc in Economics. “Hey girls,” I called waving them over to the table. “Hey, chic,” Camille replied taking a seat. Kesha just mumbled something unintelligible while stuffing her burger in her mouth. “What has her panties in a bunch?” I asked Camy. She just looked at Kesha and laughed saying, “Mr. Phillip gave a spot quiz today and she wasn’t ready. I warned her that he does those things. He taught me for ‘How to effectively master communication’ and he was a monster, I learnt really quick. She thought that because Communication Studies is a one credit course that she could take it easy. Well boy was she wrong, ha ha ha ha.” I just looked at Kesha who looked like she could smack Camy silly and I was about to change the subject when we were interrupted. “Hi, Maranda right?” I heard as I looked into the most mesmerizing grey, blue eyes that I have ever seen. After a few moments of being lost, I found my voice and replied, “yes, I am.” “Darius Smith,” he begun but never got to finish as Kesha and Camille squealed out in unison, “the Student Council President and hottest guy on campus.” This caused Darius to blush which was so sexy in a masculine way damn. “Maranda chill, we spoke about this,” I reminded myself. “Yes, I am the Student Council President, however I am not sure about the other assertions,” he said. “He isn’t full of himself, tick,” I thought ticking off my imaginary list of requirements. “May we speak a moment Maranda?” He asked. “Yes, we may. Girls we will catch up later,” I said as I grabbed my stuff to go. As we walked together the silence was deafening and my nerves were all over the place, wondering what he wanted to say. When we were outside on the picnic benches, Darius finally broke the silence. “So Maranda, I was wondering if you will like to be on the school exec, we need a new vice president as Crystal has graduated. I spoke to the team and you meet the requirements in terms of grades, personality and how you carry about yourself. And no, I have not been stalking you. One of your lecturers brought it to my attention. We have been looking for a replacement for months, so we decided to involve the faculty in the decision as well and your name came up. So, would you be my vice president please? We really need you on our team,” he says with a megawatt smile. I was so shocked, I try to keep as low a profile as I could but now if I accept I will be center stage. On one hand my low key university life as I knew it will be over but on the other hand it will be a fantastic experience and an excellent addition to my resume. After thinking it over for several minutes, I smiled at Darius and agreed saying, “sure, I’ll be your vice president. I am looking forward to working with you Mr. Smith.” Darius' POV: That was exactly what I wanted to hear coming from those kissable lips. She agreed which means that I have more time in closer quarters to get to know her on a personal level. From the first time that I laid my eyes on her this morning when she bumped into me, I felt a magnetic attraction. When she mistakenly touched my hand while picking up her documents, I felt as if I accidentally touched a live wire. I asked my best friend Andrew Simmons about her and he told me that she is Maranda Myers the top medical student for two years in a row and also the person who Dr. Marcano recommended for the position of vice president. I was shocked to say the least, I was expecting a dorky girl with thick-rimmed glasses. Maranda however was starkly different from my assumptions, she was stunning in every way her hair, curves, expressive eyes and that curvaceous behind, I think I am smitten. The best part about it is her intelligence and the fact that she is down to earth is the ‘icing on the cake’. I have never wanted someone to be my girlfriend more than in this moment. But baby steps I’ll get to know her for two years and then make my move but only if she seems interested. Maranda’s POV: Why is my heart beating so erratically? “Maranda,” I began my pep talk, “don’t you remember what happened with Marlon? Yes that was two years ago, but have you learnt nothing? Are you that eager for punishment? Man nothing! Keston then Marlon now Darius, is this your final attempt at finding your soul mate? What will happen if you are proven wrong yet again? Will you swear off men completely?” But no matter how many times I gave myself this pep talk, I couldn’t get those immersively addictive grey, blue eyes out of my mind. I think I like him, his mannerisms, his sultry voice, mesmerizing eyes, that body that I only got a glimpse of covered by that shirt. Damn, I am a goner. “Since when do you think this way Maranda?” I chided myself, “Camy is either becoming a bad influence or it’s the adult hormones?” Later that day…. “Hey, girls,” I greeted Camy and Kesha as we were about to head back to the dorms after school. “Hey,” they said in unison, “so what did ‘Mr. Hot Stuff’ want earlier? “So, they choose to just bombard me ‘right off the bat' hmmm,” I thought. “Well girls,” I began, “you are looking at the new student council vice president,” I finished with a bow. Upon looking up Camy and Kesha were looking at me with their mouths wide open and like if I magically grew another head. Camy was the first to recover, “Mary, are you sure? You never like to be the center of attention. This decision will ensure that you are always in the spotlight,” she finished looking confused. Kesha just nodded like a ‘dashboard puppy’. I gave them the same conclusion that I came to, it will be a fantastic experience and a good addition to my resume. They just nodded their agreement. Unknown POV: So she’s going to be working closely with my future hubby. I better make my move before she snatches him up. Oh, my sexy Darius you will be mine. You will be my husband, my baby daddy, lover and friend. I need you like a plant needs water. I want to luck those washboard abs and feel you between these thighs. Mhmm, I could just imagine the euphoria I’ll feel as you are deep inside of me giving me unimaginable pleasure as your grey, blue eyes suck me into your world. Maranda must never have my dream as her reality. No, that must never happen. I will be Mrs. Smith, nobody else but me deserves that right. I have been watching him for two years and I’ll be damned if I let ‘Mary come lately’ steal my prize. Author’s Note: Who is speaking? Will Darius and Maranda move from acquaintances to love associates? Will Maranda keep her guards up or will she allow him to slip in between her defenses? Will she finally experience the good men have to offer? Tune in next time on Perfidy’s Knife.
