Chapter One
Okonkwo got of his horse, he had been riding for a whole day now, his warriors behind him ,and he saw a spring and bent down to drink water, after he drank all his warriors followed and drank from the spring , all from the highest general to the lowest foot soldier. They rested a bit and continued riding East, they were returning from a victorious battle between themselves and the Northmen of the Fulani kingdom, they had protected themselves from this Northmen that wished to take over their lands.
The evening sun was setting and the sun was a beautiful red, a very pretty sight to see, Okonkwo returned, before he could step off his horse his son, Emeka ran to him and as he landed on the ground, he lifted his son and threw him up, Emeka giggled, he was barely one. Following Emeka was his mother, Okonkwo's youngest wife, he had married her a year ago and she had given him his first son, all other wives had given him daughters, so Chizoba, Okonkwo’s youngest wife had a special place in his heart for bringing him a son.
That night there was a feast in Okonkwo’s compound and the people gathered to celebrate the valiant war lords who had brought them victory, the men discussed and the children danced round the bon fire, the night was warm.
