It took that one act of stepping up on Rydar's part to make Jerry step back in to set things right. It meant Rydar actually listened to his advice, and the fact that he'd gone to Elara (although not in the most apologetic or remorseful of ways) meant that he did get poked to feel that what he'd done was wrong. Jerry also needed to keep his eyes on Elara. He could single-handedly recommend her for a better job if he wanted to, but he needed her closer. He finally met with Elara, and they had a talk with her, made her understand that she she'd not been fired from her job and could come back if she wanted.
