Chapter 2

Blaire's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. Hitting the snooze button , I rushed to the washroom to take a shower. I had to go to work in less than an hour. After the shower ,I brushed my teeth and walked over to my closet to pick my outfit for today. I chose a black skinny jeans ,a purple tank top and a black hoodie. It was a bit cold. I finished dressing up and pulled my long dirty blonde hair in a sleek bun . I wore my comfortable vans and walked out of my room. I headed to the kitchen . I still had time to make a simple breakfast. My apartment was a two bedroom ,with a kitchen ,living room and an extra bathroom. It was really cute and suited me just fine. The living room had maroon furniture with cream walls while the kitchen off to the side had Maroon cabinets and cupboards , cream walls and a small granite counter where I took my meals . There was no space for a dining table.

I opened the kitchen cupboard and brought out my favorite honey flavoured cereal and poured it into a bowl . I got a box milk from the fridge and added a generous amount. I hurriedly ate my breakfast.

I paid the cab driver once I got out and walked to the coffee coloured two storey building . I greeted Cherise ,the ever friendly receptionist and headed off to the locker room to change into my working clothes . I worked for and agency that provided housekeepers, maids and security guards for hire. I worked as a maid .

I sometimes work in homes ,offices and some times hotels. The building was divided into two parts , The security guards were on the other side while the housekeepers and maids occupied the other. This wasn’t something I wanted to do but after applying for jobs in various companies and being rejected , I settled for this . I loved my job though ,the pay was good and I sometimes got souvenirs from the hotels we cleaned.

I quickly changed to my attire which consisted of loose coffee brown pants and a loose fitting cream shirt with the agency's logo at the top left corner. I checked my schedule for today ,I was going to Ms. Daniels house today . She used my services three times in two weeks .Not that she was lazy or anything but she just had a lot to deal with. Being a mom of two tiny angels and managing your own event planning firm had to be stressful .Nobody was aware but I doubled as a babysitter for her cute little two year old twins Jamie and Lynn. She didn't trust just anybody with her twins but she had taken a liking to me .Whenever she had to oversee an event , she left them in my care and usually on those days ,I worked in her home in the afternoons .I didn’t mind at all

Those two munchkins were the cutest and besides the pay was okay so I really couldn’t complain.

The companies bus dropped me off in front of here apartment building. I greeted the doorman and walked inside. Debbie , the rosy cheeked receptionist, greeted me with a smile as always. I used to wonder if she was capable of any other emotion but I realised that she was the type that always liked to keep things positive and I admired her for that.

I stepped in the elevator and pressed the button for the penthouse suites . Ms Daniels father owned the building so it was only normal that she lived in one of the penthouses . The Daniels were wealthy .They owned a couple of hotels and some other businesses around the world but Ira Daniels had chosen to start her own business _ Ira’s Events .She wanted to be independent and so far, her company was doing so well. Her older brothers were managing their family business. Even though they were pretty famous and were a part of the elite society, they seemed like nice people ,not stuck up. I hadn't met her family but because she was humble and nice I concluded that they all were .The ping of the elevated sounded as slid open . I stepped in the lavish hallway. No matter the number of times I entered this building and walked in this hallway ,I was left in awe every time. There were touches of different colours ; royal purples ,creams, greys and golds. There was a beautiful wine coloured carpet with gold trimmings that covered the entire floor of the hallway.

I arrived at my destination and typed in the password. Even the doors were sophisticated. The moment the door opened ,I walked in and was suddenly attacked by two small bodies. Each of them latched on one of my legs .

“Hey babies “ I greeted softly as I gently removed their hands from my legs and crouched down to their level. Two pairs of identical forest green eyes starred at me .

“ Did you miss me ? “ ,they nodded heads eagerly as their golden blonde hair bounced on their heads Jamie was five minutes older than Lynn and he was absolutely protective of his sister as young as he was. He was a mischievous title thing .His golden locks reached below his little ears and fell on his forward .He was going to break hearts someday.

Lynn was the quiet and shy type. Her long curly blonde hair was held in pigtails .I knew before I left here today ,I was going to put it in braids for her . She loved having me style her hair .She was a beautiful little girl. When I first started working here , she was afraid and too shy to come close to me but after seeing how I played with Jamie, she started coming out of her shell and now both of them practically followed me everywhere. They even helped my to clean but they mostly ended up making a mess instead. I never got angry though .I understood that they were kids. I didn’t really know who their father was .Ira never told me and I didn’t want to pry. She was going to tell me in her own time.

I ruffled their hair and hugged both of them to my chest. They immediately nuzzled their heads in my neck . Wow, they must have really missed me because it seemed they didn't want to let go . Usually , I worked on Tuesdays , Thursdays and Saturdays but I didn’t come here on Tuesday neither did I come on Thursday and today was Saturday . Ira had been home on those days and she had called me not to come since she wanted to take care of things herself.

“ Sweethearts ! , Jamie ! , Lynn ! “ I heard Ira call.

She appeared in the living room and saw me with her kids .Her shoulders sagged in relief .

“Mommy Bware's here “ ,little Lynn said in her cute baby voice .

“ Yes she is baby” She answered as she picked Jaime up .He was such a mama's boy .”Hello Blaire, how have you been ? “

“ Hi Ira, I ’ve been good .You? “ Lynn run after her brother .They were probably going to watch some cartoons. Since today was Saturday and Ira wasn’t going to the office ,they wouldn’t be going to the day care centre.

I followed her as she walked into the kitchen .She was going to tell me what needed to be done today.

“Soo.. about the trending news ...”

“ Yeah about that .....”

“ How do you feel about it ? “

“ I feel bad and I feel even worse because there’s nothing I can do than just hope that whatever this is will pass “ .

Ira was the only person who knew that I had a crush on Cairo _even though she was a few years older than me ,she was the only real friend I had _ she had advised me to act on it the moment she found about and about the fact that Cairo and I went to the same high school . I refused ,I really didn’t have it in me to do that, I had nothing to offer him plus I was content with liking him from afar .
