A dim light shone in the distance, the only source of illumination in the dark realm. I didn’t know why, but I found it beautiful - like the last blaze of hope flickering in a world of misery. Little by little, the glow grew brighter, slowly subduing the darkness and taking over. Eventually, all I could see was white, so clear and radiant that it seemed as if I was staring at a burning sun. I blinked a few times, trying to adjust my vision. As soon as I woke up, I was greeted by a throbbing headache. A grunt escaped my lips as I groggily looked around in an attempt to understand where I was.
