Sarah and Alex were going over the latest financial statement when Alex’s phone vibrated. Would Jill be calling this soon on a Monday morning? Not wanting to take the chance, she pulled it from her belt clip.
“Hey Jill,” she said, the smile evident in her voice.
Sarah looked at her and rolled her eyes. “Get out of here; I have work to do.” Sarah smiled. “And tell Jill hi for me,” she added loud enough for Jill to hear. In a softer voice, she said, “And give her a big hug and kiss for me too.”
“Shut up,” Alex said to Sarah.
“Why can’t she say hi to me?” Jill asked defensively.
“No, that’s not what I was telling her to shut up about.” Alex shot Sarah a dirty look. Sarah laughed and pretended to flip through the papers in her inbox.
