Alex took Jill’s coat and gestured toward the inviting corner. She hung the coat in the closet and emerged carrying a fuzzy gray blanket. Alex wrapped the blanket around Jill’s shoulders and steered her to the couch. Before sitting, Jill slipped off her shoes and took the blanket from her shoulders. She sat with her feet underneath her and pulled the blanket up to her neck. Alex looked at the chairs and then back at the couch. Jill noticed her indecision, so she patted the space next to her.
