Alex checked her cell phone again, for what must have been the hundredth time. It was after 8:30, and Jill still hadn’t called. Alex had convinced Jill to let the gym’s computer expert set up video surveillance equipment in order to obtain evidence against Steve. Jill was supposed to let her know when Steve left for work, so they could get started.
The later it got, Alex became more concerned that Steve decided to stay home, or worse. Alex tried to push the thoughts out of her mind, but the wait was making her edgy.
