Slade- October 1, 2021
Waking up with a raging hard on and sweat dripping all over my body in this hotel room, yet again. That’s twice this week. She was there again in my dreams last night. Morgan. There are no other details about this dream other than her that could help me figure out who or where she is. None of the faces in the room are familiar, the ball room where this party or event of some kind is located is unfamiliar and seems to be in a fog. I can’t make out many details beyond Morgan. Honestly, she is all I can see. All I want to see. I have no idea if this girl is even real and if she is, I have no idea how to find her. The dream was almost the same as the last one. This time, though, she looked at me with the most piercing emerald green eyes I had ever seen. I sucked in a sharp breath. I expected to at least have some clue as to who she may be, but the moment her eyes looked into mine, I knew I would never forget a face like that. She saw straight to my soul. Every part of me ached for this girl and I could see that she felt it, too. It was a strange and foreign feeling to me. I never get caught up in my feelings or moments with anyone. Especially people I have never met, but something about her was haunting me. Without saying anything else, I pulled her to me and ran my hand from her hip and up to cup her face. It was her her turn to gasp. I smiled devilishly at her knowing exactly how she felt. Knowing that at any given moment I was about to claim that sexy, full-lipped mouth of hers. Our breathing quickened and the room felt like everyone else in it disappeared. It was only her and me. I bent towards her slowly and she closed her eyes in silent, desperate anticipation. She moved her hand up to my chest innocently and I was right there. Just centimeters away from having her lips on mine.
That’s when I woke up to the stupid hotel alarm clock. I wanted nothing more than to fall back into that dream and forget about the endless problems surrounding the Brodericks and this damn artifact, but that was not going to get the job done. The party was tomorrow night. My team and I needed a new plan and I needed a cold f*****g shower. I had about an hour to get up and head down to the hotel’s restaurant where I was meeting with Trevor and Oliver to formulate a plan that Oliver would later talk to the rest of the team about.
**********************************************
I made it down to the restaurant in an hour and a half. I had some business to take care of in the shower that took some of the tension in my shoulders away. Trevor and Oliver were already there, but to my annoyance, Oliver brought a date. I’m assuming his girlfriend. He looked up at me as I was nearing the table and he stood up to greet me.
“Son of a b***h, Slade! What took you so long?” He smiled, going in for the bro hug like we always do and I whispered to him.
“What did you bring her for?” As we pulled away he answered me nonchalantly.
“I wanted you to meet my girlfriend before our meeting started.” He turned and pulled her up towards us. She held her hand out and I took it. Silently hoping that there was a really good reason for this.
“Hi, Mr. Wilson. My name is Hayden. Ollie has told me so much about you. It is so nice to finally meet you.” I laughed. Loud. Did she just call me mister? How old does she think I am?
“Hayden. Call me Slade. Mr. Wilson is my father.” I told her as I move to take my seat.
“Sorry. I was a little nervous. Ollie talks about you like you are kinda unapproachable. Like big, scary, mean type of guy.” She explains to me. She says all this like it is no big deal to her. All nerves gone.
“Well, I can be. Not too big on people. So, if you don’t mind me asking. How long do you plan on staying with us?”
“Slade, Hayden is good friends of the Broderick family.” He looks pissed at me for my rude ass question. But he’s the one that made me sound like a d**k. What the hell? I might as well be one then, right?
“Well, I’m good friends with Morgan, not the whole family. Her family is barely ever around when we go to her parents house.” Hayden tells us. I nearly choke on my omelette, that has already been ordered for me, at the mention of the name Morgan. Trevor and Oliver both start patting my back like I’m an infant to help me out. I wave them off and look at Hayden.
“Excuse me, who did you say you were friends with?” She looks at me as if I have grown 12 more heads and spoke 12 different languages. But she answers me all the same.
“Morgan. As in Morgan Broderick. She’s Hailey and Nathan Broderick’s daughter. You know, the ridiculously wealthy archeologists? It’s her birthday tomorrow. They are giving her an insanely expensive present that is creepy, but kinda beautiful, too. They are having a huge surprise birthday party for her, as well, but Morgan already knows about it, but they don’t know she knows. Anyways. Do you know Morgan?” Whoa! Wait? Creepy, insanely expensive gift? f**k me! She is full of information and has no idea she is giving me a gold mine of details. Could this be a coincidence? My dream girl? What would be the chances?
“What? Know her? No. I know Hailey and Nathan, though. Strictly on a professional level. How do you know Morgan?” I ask. I’m trying to make it sound casual. But my heart is pounding a mile a minute and I can’t remember why I am supposed to be talking to Hayden.
“We go to school together. At UMSL. We met on our first day. We both took an Anthropology class. Her for her parents and me for fun. We both bonded over how horribly we sucked at it. Been friends ever since.” I think a new plan was already beginning to formulate in my head and it revolves around this girl giving me every detail she could about her BFF. If the Broderick family had a weak spot. It would be their precious daughter.
Hayden stayed and talked for a little more but had to leave. She had a couple classes, and was meeting up with someone later to head to Morgan’s for a girls night apparently.
“Are you ready to make these plans or are you gonna keep sitting there grinning like an idiot.” Trevor asked me.
“No need. Did you dipshits not hear anything that Hayden said? The Brodericks are giving their daughter a creepy and insanely expensive present. That means she has seen it. And she knows what it is. Oliver that’s your cue to ask her what she knows. But I’m betting money that it’s our artifact. They f*****g have it and we are taking it from them.”
“We need to plan it out, man.” Oliver says.
“Oh we will plan. And it will start and end with Morgan Broderick.” I tell them both as I stand up and walk out of the restaurant.
