"You don't look too good" Stephen pointed out as he walked into Leah's apartment, followed by Anthonio who decided to tag along. Anthonio as usual, was carrying two brown bags filled with food. He dropped them on the table and sat beside Stephen in front of Leah. "Are you okay?" Anthonio asked, concern laced his voice as he took in Leah's dishevelled state, her hair looked like it hadn't been combed in days and her face looked red and swollen from how much she had cried. "You look… homeless" he added "Did your boss send you to get me? I'm not done packing my things yet. Can you wait a bit?" Leah asked, her voice sounding hoarse and tired as she was about to head back into her room to complete her packing. "Why would the boss send us to get you? What's wrong? You are not in danger are you?" Stephen asked pretending to be unaware of what was happening. "Has someone been stalking you? Did someone threaten you? Did those Romano scum come to look for you?" Antonio asked and she shook her head in reply. "No" she replied weakly. "Then what's wrong? Is it a boyfriend issue? I can beat him up for you if he is being a d**k. And then find you a better one." Anthonio reassured and Leah almost chuckled at his protectiveness. "My father sold me to your boss to pay off his debt" Leah choked out as fresh tears streamed down her face as she remembered the content of the document had been signed, "I hate him so much, every time I remember what he made my mum and we go through since I was young, I wish I could kill him" she sobbed uncontrollably "And now he sold me to pay his debt so he can marry another woman!" It's been several days since he showed up at the cafe to tell her she had been sold and the boss would come to get her, since then she had been holed up in her room, refusing to go to her classes or her job. She had left the cafe Immediately after her father, trying her best to believe it was some kind of joke it prank, and even now after so many days she still hoped her father would show up and tell her it was all a lie. "f*****g piece of s**t!" Anthonio cursed, balling his fist wanting to hit her father. "How could he do something so scumy? Sell his daughter off to pay his debt? He is a bastard that deserves some face rearrangement" Her mood got better as she watched Anthonio get angry on her behalf "What is your boss like?" she asked curiously "Will he make me do those sorts of things from the movies and books?" "What kind of things?" Stephen asked with a raised brows and an amused smile. "You know? Drug dealing, being an escort and all those… I can't do all those things… I really can't. I'd rather spend the rest of my life paying that huge amount than to do those things " Leah began to break down again as she remembered the fate that waited for her new life. "Of course not, you will not be made to do all those. Don't worry we will put in a good word for you with the boss" Anthonio assured "You won't be treated too badly I can't assure you a nice treatment since I don't know who your immediate boss would be but I promise you won't be treated too badly." "Thank you" She whispered "Do you know why he has not sent someone to come and get me yet?" she asked as Anthonio stood and went into the kitchen to get plates. He served the pasta and handed her a plate. "It's been so hectic in the gang lately, those Romano guys are pulling some s**t and he has lots to deal with as the CEO of the Morreti group and the Don of the underworld. I'm only this free because I need to heal and he is a chef he doesn't get his hands dirty" Stephen explained as he dug into his plate of pasta. "Just relax, you will be fine" he guaranteed Leah felt comforted by their words and continued eating in silence. Soon they heard the jiggling of keys at the door. Anthonio and Stephen's muscles tense in alertness as they move towards the door. "It's just my apartment mate, you don't have to be all tensed up" Leah commented as a girl dressed in black baggy pants and a pink sleeveless crop top walked him. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun revealing the knife tattoo on the back of her neck. Anthonio and Stephen shared a look as they saw the tattoo and made a mental note to check her identity. She dropped her bags by the door and turned and walked towards the trio, her eyes went wide in shock as she too in Leah's shape. "Holy s**t, girl, you look like crap" Amanda cursed "How did you get like this? Did something happen? Why didn't you call me?" she asked worriedly "I'm fine" Leah replied with a forced smile. "It was just a mild fever and flu and I didn't want to disturb you while you were away at her boyfriend's. It's gone now and I'm fine" "You should have! I would have come back to take care of you. That bastard isn't even worth my time, I was left at my own devices half the time. By the way" She said while eyeing Stephen and Anthonio "Who are these handsome fellas?" her eyes trailed over Stephen's body seductively. "They are my coworkers, they came to check on me since I was sick" Leah lied. "Oh hey handsome, I'm Amanda, Leah's roommate and best friend" She introduced herself as she stretched out her hands, Stephen gave a hand an unhappy look while keeping his hands to himself. "Don't mind him, he is always a little bit grumpy" Anthonio took her hands "I'm Anthonio and he is Stephen"
