Chapter 9: Shift

*Logan*

I woke up feeling weird today and I didn’t know what to think of it, every little thing was pissing me off and I just couldn’t get myself under control. “Well son, whenever you feel better just join us for Derek and Ciara’s party we’re all going to head out and join them for lunch” “yeah ok dad, I’ll be sure to be there for the party.” He nodded and headed towards the portal with Odalis, Kage, Omar and Kaden. There was more pack members going but they were not going to leave until later.

I was walking towards the forest, one place that always calmed me down was the waterfall where it was said Alpha Blake met his mate. There was something about that place that just felt so stress free and right now I needed to relax before I yelled at another pack member.

“Well hey there” my relaxation had come to an end when one of my mistakes walked up behind me instantly putting me in a bad mood again. “What do you want Carly?” I said annoyed “oh nothing much, just thought you could use some company” she said seductively trying to rub her hand on my arm. “I don’t want any company from you, you were a mistake and I want you to leave me alone, I want to be alone right now” I said trying to keep my anger at bay.

“Oh come on Logan don’t say that what we had was amazing and there’s no reason why it should stop” this girl just didn’t give up. I took a deep breath and turned to face her, she took this as a sign that I was giving in to her and tried to lean in for a kiss, but I quickly stopped her by grabbing her wrists and holding her away from me. “Carly listen to me and listen good, I don’t want you, I never did,  and I never will, what happened between us was a mistake, I was drunk and not thinking straight, now for the last time leave me alone.”

I dropped her hands and started to move away from her, but she grabbed my hand not wanting to give up. Something snapped inside of me I was so tired of her following me around everywhere. An angry growl erupted from deep inside of me, and I shifted on the spot. It was nothing like my dad had described my first shift would be like.

I was expecting agonizing pain and hearing my own bones break repeatedly while I wished it would soon be over, but no, that didn’t happen to me. Instead I shifted in what seemed like less than a second and I was on top of Carly growling at her and ready to snap her neck. She was crying and looked completely frightened beneath me and I could smell how she had pissed herself, disgusting I thought to myself.

I gave her a warning bark and got off of her and took off on a run deeper into the forest. What the hell just happened? I asked myself “I’m sorry to have made an appearance like this, it’s definitely not the way I would have wanted to meet you” I heard a deeper version of my voice inside of my head. I stopped running and laid down to rest. “My name is Nick and I’m your wolf” “holy s**t! Holy s**t! Wow” I was freaking out, my wolf had appeared, and I was so confused about it, my birthday wasn’t for another few months and here he was.

I heard him laughing in my head and wondered what was so funny “You’re right I wasn’t supposed to show myself for another few months, but I felt our mate and I cannot wait a few more months to meet her, besides that b***h was really pissing me off, I wish I could have ripped her throat out, maybe that way she would have left us alone.” I couldn’t help but laugh, she was getting on my last nerve and what happened earlier today was probably not going to make her stop.

“Yeah I wanted to too, but then I would have to explain to my dad why I killed a member of our pack without an apparent reason” “I guess you’re right, well hopefully she leaves us alone after we bring our mate back with us” “hopefully.” I spent a few more hours running around and getting to know Nick a little bit more before I started to head back to the castle. I stopped at a tree where I knew we kept extra shorts and put them on after I shifted back.

I ran to my room to shower and get ready so that I could head over to Bloodmoon pack for the birthday party and Derek’s Alpha celebration tomorrow. As soon as I stepped out of the portal into Bloodmoon territory I could smell the sweetest scent of vanilla, I could smell her, and it was the most amazing smell ever. Her scent was everywhere though so I couldn’t pin point where exactly she was, I was going to have to look for her everywhere, but one thing was for sure, she was from this pack.

I decided to start at the pack house and move from there, the closer I got the stronger the scent was getting, and I knew that starting at the pack house was the best choice. I didn’t even get close when I saw her walking out; she was wearing a back and sparkly dress, her tan skin seemed to be shimmering with the light of the moon, her long brown hair was in some sort of braid , but still letting it fall loose and flowing down her back. Then I saw her big brown eyes staring back at me “MATE!” Nick said in my head sounding so possessive over her.

“Mate” I heard her lips say, Nick took over my body and ran to her side picking her up, twirling her around and finally devoured her mouth. I felt her shock at first, but she quickly wrapped her hands around my neck and kissed me back with so much passion, this was the best kiss I had ever had in my life, and I couldn’t wait to do it for the rest of my life.

When our kiss finished Nick had given me back control and we just stood there with our foreheads touching each other and staring into each other’s eyes, nothing else around us mattered “You’re so beautiful” I heard myself say making her blush and look down a little. I took my hand and grabbed her chin gently and pulled her face to look back up at me “don’t be shy, your beauty is nothing to be embarrassed about” “thank you” she blushed again but this time she didn’t try to look away.
