Kimberly's POV
My heart did a little zigzag when I saw the reflection of a beautiful woman staring back at me. This is what you would look like on your wedding day, a voice in my head said to me.
On your real wedding day, it repeated.
Even if I was acting stoical in front of everyone, somewhere deep down I wish it was real. Or at least, maybe this would be the way it would be when I finally meet the love of my life and marry him.
" Mmmhmm, " I heard someone clear his throat and pulled me out of my thoughts. When I turned around, I saw Aaron. Also dashingly dressed in a black six piece suit.
" The make up artist said you are all done. Are you?" he propped himself on the door frame.
" Yes, I am done. " I noticed his eyes roam my body from my head down to my toes. Even though I tried distracting him by moving around, his eyes still followed me.
" For someone with a smart mouth like yours, you found a way to look beautiful in a wedding dress."
" Is that a compliment?," I crossed my arms. The Aaron I knew from way back never made nice remarks, especially to me. And the look on his face told me he was mocking me.
" Yes." he nodded and then began sauntering closer to me. But the mocking smile was still on his face.
" Yeah, well. Save it, " if he wants me to melt before his arms all because of a compliment, then he is fooling himself. " This whole thing is fake so there is no need for the warmliness." I gave him a thorough look from head to toe. Now it was my turn to compliment, " If the love of my life took me to the altar looking the way you are, I would shout a thunderous no."
I did my best to look very serious when I said it, still he chuckled like what I had said was a joke.
" You have started again with your smart mouth." he spoke softly and then extended his right arm to me, " Come. There is a fake priest and congregation waiting for us at the church. The sooner we are done with the photoshoot, the earlier it gets posted out."
That was his elaborate plan. To fake our wedding and then post it on all social platforms that we had both married in secret last year. And that the news had just leaked out this evening. That way people wouldn't know that the marriage was for a business deal.
Was he scared of being judged, I wondered. Or was he trying to protect me?, I asked myself. This two questions kept on singing in my head as we made our way to the church.
We got to the church almost like it was only a stone throw away.
Aaron's POV
I took a quick glance at my wristwatch and noted the time. Only two minutes had passed but it seemed like eternity. Time was running out.
Yes, I knew I had told Kimberly that the taking of vows should be done at normal pace, and without any urgency. I knew I had told Kimberly to slowly walk down the aisle with my Uncle holding her arms.
But that was before Hank told me about the new problem that was coming to sabotage this contract wedding. Now all I wanted everything to be done very fast.
Even though the deal with Oakland Coporation was already done and sealed. There was still the risk I could lose it if this new problem ruins the wedding and it got out that my marriage was a contract.
Seconds later, the large church doors swung open and like an angel, she appeared dressed in white looking so beautiful like it was the first time I was seeing her.
I slightly turned my head to Hank who was standing as my bestman and ring bearer, " Hank, see if you can make her and my uncle walk faster. Time is running out." I whispered.
" I don't we should, " Hank whispered back, " That would just f**k things up."
" No, things will only get f****d if we don't hurry up."
" Just chill. Nothing is going to happen. You have successfully fought it to this stage. What's the point of losing courage now." Hank placed his palm over my shoulder," Besides, the moment you collect the rings from me, I will run through the back door and make sure no one else enters the church."
" Do you think that's going to work?."
" Off course. The gaurds will be with me."
" Okay, good." I nodded once. Kimberly was already standing right in front of me when I straightend.
" Shall we begin with the vows?," the priest asked, looking from me to her.
I nodded, and so did Kimberly.
Everything continued well and then we got to the slipping the rings into each other's fingers point. I collected the rings from Hank and then he dashed away to do what we had planned.
So far so good, nothing bad has happened, I heard a voice in my head say.
I picked up the first ring, said the necessary stuffs and then gently slipped it into her ring finger. Kimberly picked up the second ring, then said what she was supposed to say and finalinsed the marital bonds.
" You may kiss your bride," the priest said to me, and that was when our eyes met.
Even though I had countlessly looked into her eyes, for the first time, her crystal blue eyes sent shivers down my spine. My lungs instantly stopped working and a lump of air hung on my throat. When I lowered my eyes to her heart-shaped luscious lips, things got worse. I felt my heart race a thousand beats without a pause.
A couple of deep breaths would stop this nonsense, I said to myself and then tried to control my excited body. But nothing worked.
Being enticed by a woman had been this hard to control.
This isn't real. Stop it. Control yourself Aaron. Time is running out. Be done with this.
Tipping my head down, I went for lips. Her shaking but fixed eyes stayed fixed on mine untill I was an inch close. That's when they went shut. And so did mine.
" You Bastard!!!!!!. How could you do this to me!!!"
