After the long period of physics, it was finally lunch time and after that I had no more classes. Those were definitely a few perks of being a senior. Less classes were one of those perks.
I was currently going to the cafeteria when Aaron got the bright idea to sneak up behind me, scaring the hell out of me.
"Hi!" He screamed.
"Hell Aaron! Man can't you just say hi to me like a normal human being!" I exclaimed as I placed a hand on my chest, trying to ease my fast pacing heart.
"But you have to admit, it was pretty great scaring you. You should have seen your face." He was wheezing and laughing at the same time, which didn't make things better, but I had to admit that he did look like an i***t.
"Yeah well, I hope you had your fun because the next time I see you not paying attention to your surroundings, I'm going to scare you so bad you are gonna wish you never scared me." I said to him with a serious tone. And for a minute there he did look kind of scared but then he just looked at me amused.
I was finished yet though, "I will remember this for the rest of my life." I spoke to him sarcastically with a chuckle.
He just started laughing again. And I just gave him a glare. Seriously after scaring me he has the audacity to just laugh at me again. Clearly this guy doesn't love his life.
I ignored him and started walking towards my destination again, the good ol' cafeteria. I was about to enter when I suddenly bumped into someone while opening the door to the cafeteria. And you won't believe who it was. Yep, you guessed correct.
It was Sarah the one and only.
My hand immediately went to my cheek out of instinct.
I know I know, I looked a bit stupid and cowardly at that moment, but you can't blame me for being careful.
I looked at her and I saw embarrassment in her eyes, but it went away as soon as it came when she started frowning at me. Seriously, what did I do? It's her fault that she bumped into me the second time. But it's a good thing that this time I didn't see any of her underwear.
Because I have no idea what else this mouth of mine would say.
I slowly got my hand back to my side but that clearly didn't solve the awkwardness that surrounded us now. She was still frowning at me though.
And at that time of awkwardness, Aaron came to the rescue.
"Hey Sarah. I see you have met Jack." Sarah looked at him and then smiled. That killer smile, wow.
"Yeah, I've met him." Sarah replied while smiling at Aaron.
I thought I had heard wrong but when I saw Aaron look at me, we spoke up in unison, "Him." And we started laughing as hard as possible. Sarah just looked at us with confusion.
After our laughter had died, we looked at her to see her frowning and watching us with confusion clear on her face.
I didn't know what to say so Aaron took this as a cue to speak instead, "Sorry. I know you're confused but never judge a book by its cover." I rolled my eyes when she looked even more confused.
Waving at Aaron dismissingly, I spoke up, "What Aaron is trying to tell you is that I am a girl."
It didn't take long for her face to turn red with recognition. She looked at the ground shyly and I had to admit that I really liked this view. You know, her blushing.
I looked at her and smiled, "I know you thought I was a guy but I'm not. It's okay. I get that a lot. So, can we go to lunch now? I'm really hungry."
She looked from the ground up to me and smiled at me nodding.
Wow. That smile. And to know I caused that. Ugh. If she smiles at me like that again I'm gonna cough up my heart so I can give it to her.
I know that's really cheesy.
Or just plain disgusting.
Hush.
We walked in the cafeteria and I went to the lunch-line to get my tray of food while Aaron and Sarah went to a table.
I had just bought a sandwich that looked really delicious. Looking over to the table that Aaron and Sarah were now sitting at, I noticed the other people there that I wasn't acquainted with yet.
I just walked over to the table, sending a friendly smile to the unknown people sitting around it. As I sat down beside Aaron, I noticed the way he was staring at my sandwich with hunger.
I couldn't stop myself from speaking up as I blocked the view of the sandwich away from his sight, "Hey don't look at my sandwich like that. It's like you're raping it."
He chuckled, "Well excuse me. I am hungry too and I thought you were gonna share it."
"Yeah right. In your dreams buddy. If you're hungry, go buy something yourself." I said to him while taking a big bite of my sandwich after unwrapping its plastic wrapper.
"Harsh, dude." He pretended to be hurt as he placed a hand over the place his heart was.
Soon he stopped drooling over my sandwich and looked over to the three unknown people sitting at the table with us.
There were two girls and a boy. The guy was handsome. And I didn't need to be straight to accept that. He had jet black hair and tanned skin. His eyes were light green which looked really nice with his beige button up shirt.
One of the girls, had brown hair and the other was a blonde. The blonde was really attractive and I guess she was aware of it as well since she was showing off her assets in that small top. Her hair was long and settled on her shoulders which made her the more appealing.
The other girl looked like a straight - A student. She had glasses and braces too. But somehow, she looked pretty good too. She wasn't showing off much skin but I found her extremely attractive as well.
Damn, why was it that all of them were good looking.
After a couple minutes of silence at the table Aaron spoke up, "So Jack this here is Naomi." He said pointing towards the girl with the glasses.
"Hi Naomi. Nice to meet you."
"This one over here is Adam." Aaron continued pointing towards the guy sitting across from us.
We gave each other nods and a smile, which was the equivalent to a greeting.
"And lastly this little girlie here is Miranda." Aaron smirked while pointing to the blonde, who was eyeing me up and down but still managed to throw a glare Aaron's way.
I mean sure she can check me out, I have no problem with that, but come on I'm seated right now. She won't have a better view with me sitting.
"And this everybody here is Jack Daniels. The new kid." Aaron said to everyone.
I smile at the three people I just got acquainted with.
"Damn you're really hot!" Miranda exclaimed looking at me seductively.
I smirked at her comment, "Thanks."
And then out of nowhere, Sarah chimed in, "She's a girl."
Wow maybe I'm dreaming but I clearly saw jealousy in her eyes, or maybe I have a problem of seeing things that aren't there. Miranda shook her head and said with a smirk, "That's even better. I like a girl better looking than guys." Her comment caught me by surprise and even made me laugh. And here I thought she would just back off.
Now what you gonna do, huh, Sarah.
I looked at Sarah to see if she had some kind of comeback for that, but she just shook her head.
But Aaron and Adam sure as hell didn't remain silent. "Hey. That's offensive. She is not better looking than us, right?" They asked in unison.
Miranda just blinked and spoke with a bored tone, "Trust me you are no competition of hers." Aaron and Adam both groaned before going back silent.
No one had even seen how fast Sarah had finished her lunch as our attention fell on her as she stood up suddenly.
It was as if no one cared as she made her way out of the cafeteria with all of her things. "What happened to her?" I said confused, still staring at the double doors of the cafeteria, from where she had left in a hurry.
Aaron just shrugged, "Maybe she has something to do."
Maybe. Or maybe not.
Sarah just seemed like she had a lot of things to her other than the fact that she was rich and beautiful, and I couldn't wait to find out more about her.
Seriously this girl was something special.
After a while sitting there talking to Aaron and Adam. I found out that both of them were basketball players. They told me I should join them for a game sometime.
I told them I would think about it. I also talked to Miranda who had been constantly flirting with me. And Naomi was just really silent, observing us. She seemed pretty intimidating to me so I didn't try to talk to her at all.
After lunch time was over, I just bid my goodbye to everyone. And while doing that Miranda gave me her number and told me to call her.
And I sure as hell would. I got Aaron and Adam's number too.
I got out of the school building and started to walk towards my car and there I saw Ravenna leaning on it with a bored expression.
I walked towards her and unlocked the car for her to get in. I was a bit shocked because Ravenna never stays quiet. She was always constantly talking but right now, she didn't seem the least bit interested in speaking.
Even though I was surprised, I was also relieved that she wouldn't torture me with the constant talking. But you know how good things never last.
As soon as I got in the driver's seat, she started talking about her day and all sorts of crap I didn't care about.
Spoke too soon, or in this case, thought too soon.
And there goes my peace and quiet now.
All throughout the ride home, I tried to keep myself attentive even when I could barely understand anything.
It was a weird day to begin with, but I was glad that it went okay.
