2 days after that distasteful photograph of Raj and Nicky’s, Mia received a call from the hospital asking her if she wanted to extend her leave. Mia hadn’t met Raj. It was only 2 days but felt like an eternity. She had cried constantly and lost herself in a drugged sleep. She had moved from aspirin to sleeping pills. She had no interest in staying awake. The gaping hole in her heart made every moment very painful so she chose the dullness of sleep instead. She wouldn’t have eaten but Andy had made sure that she had food regularly. The call from the hospital was like a wake up call. She couldn’t let her personal distress hamper her professional life. She had always found solace in work and she felt confident that work would help her out. Especially since she also had to work on her research
