“What?!!!” Miriam exclaimed so loudly that I cringed when the voice pierced my ears. Even Ajax looked taken aback by my statement, and we both reached out at the same time to catch a swooning Miriam. My conscious blamed me immediately – I shouldn’t have told her the truth. I threw a conspiratorial look at Everett who wasn’t any help. His gaunt face looked as stunned as if I’d just announced that there was a ghost amongst us. He advanced towards me menacingly in one large graceful stride and grabbed my arms in two vice grips. “Are you speaking the truth?
