Just then, my phone buzzed. A message from Jackie lit up the screen:
"Elwyn, are you still awake?"
I nearly jumped in surprise, sitting up straight. I couldn't believe it—he messaged me first. I quickly typed back:

"Do you want to go for a walk and get some fresh air?"
