Alise smiled gently, still not letting it go. "I didn't say anything; you're the one who gave yourself away," she said, her eyes twinkling with humor. "Alright, if you don't want to talk about it, we'll get back to work. But I stand by what I said," she added with a wink.
I forced a smile, feeling my cheeks still warm, but I tried to keep things professional. I turned back to my computer, determined not to let Alise's teasing get to me. "Alright, let's get back to work. What's going on with the Emets project? I haven't agreed to partner with them yet."
Alise stopped in her tracks, her playful expression turning to surprise. "You haven't agreed? But I just received a notification from our partners that you accepted the deal. I thought everything was settled."
