THEO- Flash Back to this afternoon“Hunter- I need you to change routes immediately- Luna’s car been bombed.” I heard a faint voice from the front of the car- from the bracelet Hunter always wears.
“Who- Luna?” Hunter replied faintly. “But why?”
“I am going to have you drive there- don’t ask that much, just latch up the cars at the location I sent you.” The voice paused. “and put the glasses on, follow them- go to where they go. I will send you the partial location.” Then the voice disappeared. I saw Hunter running to go grab his glasses and I tried to ask but he just ignored it, but I guess now I know.
End of Flash BackA soft grin spread across my face as the thought of danger occurred. This was going to be, F-U-N, fun.
~I snatched my sketchbook off the table as I settled to draw Gwen and Lyla. Gwen was a brunette and had soft features. Staring at her expressionlessly I wanted to brush a stray strand of hair off her cheek. She was- attractive. I paused in my thoughts laughing at how ridiculous my idea was—yes, she was cute and all, but she seemed more like the fierce and fiery type of girl, not the ones to date- I mean… My gaze floated away to Lyla. She was baby cute and pulled off the typical teenage look well. Her eyelids flickered as I settled in to shade her skin tone- darkish brown, I wondered what her nationality was; African, Spanish, German… The soft scratching of my pencil echoed within the van. I blinked a few times and yawned, stretching as I rolled over my bed, completely exhausted from drawing. I looked at my alarm’s display: 03:56, trying to force my eyelids shut, I zoned out.
~The soft rattling of the kettle and the scent of burnt toast filled my nostrils.
“Morning!” Hunter whispered from behind me.
“Jesus Chri-”
“Shut up Theo!” Darko yelled across.
“Sorry guys.” But all I got were angry looks in return.
“I won.” A smooth smirk ran across Hunter’s face.
“For god’s sake Hunter, you’re not a CHILD!” Axel yelled as he rubbed his eyes.
“You guys, it’s funny, also, you should have seen the look on Theo’s face- priceless.”
“Probably just like how you are so useless that nobody would even want you if you were for free.” I muttered.
I gulped down the last bits of milk in my cereal as Lyla and Gwen sat down beside me.
“Shuffle up!” Darko whispered in my ears.
“Um hi- Theo?”
“Hey.” I moved away to tuck my bowl away. “Ugh- just gonna go grab some fresh air if you don’t mind…” I sprinted away in a panic, gosh, Gwen was PRETTY. The butterflies rose in my stomach as I skittled down the steps.
“Half an hour!” Hunter replied.
Skidding off into the endless I stretched out my legs and sank to the ground. My life is a mess, I thought to myself cranking my neck upwards to gaze at the sky.
~I stared at my laptop blankly, it was like I knew it, but no- I didn’t. Tilting my head sideways, I sighed and went to grab some water. The sound quiet typing echoed in my ears as it walked back to my laptop. There she was- Gwen. I felt my heart rate rising, I swear she could hear my heart thudding loudly back and forth. “Um Theo?”
“Yes?”
“I don’t wanna seem crazy or anything, but I think you spelt colour wrong, it should be the American spelling…” Her voice faded off, she- she was a genius.
“Oh, thank you- I spent forever trying to figure that out.”
“You’re- you’re welcome.”
To be honest, I could swear Gwen blushed a little, but I could just keep my feelings to myself- I guess.
~I stared at the ceiling frantically trying to sleep, peering at the soft light coming from between the curtains. Letting out a gentle sigh, I pictured Gwen’s face pulling close to mine. Trying hard to believe it was a dream, I felt myself digging my nails deep into her arm, desperately pushing her away. Her scent of lavender faded from my nostrils, I turned my head, pushing away the thoughts of us being together. Yes, Gwen was cute, but she would never, ever, like me back.
Light seeped between my eyelids, waking me up from my dreams, I sat up on the side of my bed and steadied my vison. There was something different- no trail of burnt bacon in the air, or the silent ticking of the toaster.
“Guys… Drumroll please, WE HAVE ARRIVED!” Hunter yelled at the top of his lungs.
There was some whooping and cheering amongst us, but we were still yawning and half asleep. I spared a glance to Gwen, where her eyes were darting left and right, probably wondering where the hell she was. I skipped freely off the steps of the van. In front of me stood an old, dilapidated building. It loomed over me as though it was empowering me. I turned to see mist behind me- a lot of mist. A shiver ran down my spine as the doors let out a loud screech and drew wide open.
“Welcome, welcome to the Lagency.” A voice boomed from far away. Slightly intimidated by this massive architecture, I nodded my head, acknowledging whoever was standing there and entered the building. I followed Hunter up the white staircase, inside the building, it was simple and neat. Simple overlay wooden flooring, with shelves stacked up to the sides. As we entered the second floor, there was a training studio, complete with weapons, boxing ring... I wandered off continuing to our bedrooms.
“So… Here is the boy’s cabin, um girls follow me… Asher will probably come see you shortly.”
I gave Gwen a wink before she left, but she didn’t seem to notice.
