Edward was busy with his business, surrounded by papers and meetings, when his phone buzzed. The moment Venice’s name flashed on the screen, he answered it in a heartbeat.
“What’s the news, Venice?” he asked, skipping any formal greetings. “Did your plan work?”
There was a brief pause on the other end. Venice clenched her fist; her breath was shaky as she tried to steady herself. “I don’t understand what is going on with Jenna!” she finally blurted out as the frustration was clear in her voice.
