The wedding day
The day was finally come.
The day I never thought last two months ago would ever happen.
The day my life takes a new big change. The day I have been fearing and also waiting for.
The day I take a vow with someone I don’t love or even know or met before.
I stood in front of the mirror in my hotel close to the wedding venue. I had just finished makeup and styling completely. Emma just left to take a call and my mum was already at the wedding venue waiting for me even though she wanted to stay with me, I refused because I don’t want her to see me when I’m down. She has been sad a little bit since yesterday, so I have been trying to stay strong for her because I don’t want to cause any problems to her recovering body.
I look pretty, at least that a win for me. Even though I am not having my dream wedding, at least my makeup and dress are perfect, thanks Emma and thank goodness Uncle Simon allowed me to pick my dress.
I just kept starring at myself through the mirror and I felt like crying, but No! I can’t, I don’t want anyone except Emma to see me weak. I just kept on staring, speechless but in sadness and admiration until I heard my door opening and Emma entered and closed the door.
“Sorry for the interruption before. Frank was calling me about the wedding venue. I told him yesterday, but as usual, he forgot” she said walking closer to me in her brown lace corset maxi gown as my maid of honor
“I thought we both told him the wedding venue yesterday during our sleepover and we always wrote it in our group chat so that he will not forget” I said smiling widely still looking at myself in the mirror and Emma now standing at my side
“You see! Sometimes I wonder how he manages his company” She said we both laughed. This is why I love her so much, she is always there for me, she brings light to my gloomy days and always knows how to make me laugh. Both and Frank. Even though he is supposed to be here to pick me up.
“So where is he now? I said after we both calm down from our laugh
“He is already at the front of the hotel waiting. I told him not to come up as punishment for forgetting your wedding venue” she smiled widely. She just love stressing the poor guy.
I just nod and we both just starred at our reflection “You look so pretty” Emma said breaking the silence
“You’ve told me before” I said giggling
“I know but it’s just that…” she could not finish it, instead she just turned to me, touching my face with tears in her eyes
“Stop it, please” I said trying to blow the tears from my eyes so that I would my ruin my tears
“Hey stop it” she said hugging me and brought me out of the hug, now facing me “Let’s go, we have been crying since yesterday. It’s time”
Then she grabbed my hands, carrying both our bags with her and we both left the hotel and into the red car in front of the hotel.
“Hey, what’s the holdup” Frank immediately said front the driver’s seat as soon as we entered.
“You can’t even greet your friend properly” I said crossing my hands on my chest from the backseat.
“Ohh sorry, I was just ……..” he was immediately interrupted by Emma.
“You don’t have any good excuse or explanation for this. You are really a bad friend. Firstly, you forgot your friend’s wedding venue, and now you can’t even compliment your friend on her wedding day. You.. are.. so… wicked” Emma said while I pretended to wipe tears from my eyes
“Sorry, please, it’s was a mista…..” again he was interrupted by this time me.
“Just be going, we don’t have the whole year and we are already late” I said and he immediately start the engine which me and Emma giggle, played our favorite playlist and zoomed off and throughout the ride, we were all singing with all our voices in excitement.
By the time we started getting closer to the venue, Frank stopped the music and when we reached, Mama was already waiting for us at the back of the hall.
“Ohh my baby” Mama said, stretching her hands for Emma
“Hey mama, how are you” Emma said running and stretching my hands to my mum.
“Mum” I said pouting my lips “You can’t even greet your daughter first. It’s so unfair. Im the one getting married and you are here getting someone else first”
“Who did you just call someone else? Don’t say that” mama said trying to cover Emma hears and then we all laughed
“What of me?” Frank said while carrying both me and Emma’s bag now
“Ohhh come here” mum said and both and Frank hugged each other. After the hug, that’s when she finally remembered that I am left alone from their hug
“You can come now” she said to me and we both hugged “You look pretty” she said holding my face closer to her
“Thank you, mama” and we just stayed there starring at each other, having our silent conversation.
“Ok, that’s ok, it’s almost, let’s go” Mama said and we all went to the waiting except Frank who entered the main hall.
After some minutes in the waiting, it was only me now in the dressing room. Then a woman in suit came into the room “It’s time” she said and left immediately
It’s time, it really is time. And when I left the room, Frank was already waiting for me behind curtains to the walkaway. He is the one that is going to walk me down the aisle because there is no way I will allow Uncle Simon walk me.
“Hey” Frank said in a low voice when I got to his side
“Hey” I said back to him and he brought arms up for me to hold him
“And let’s welcome the bride” we both heard from the hall
“You ready” Frank said whispering to me and I nodded and the curtains opened me to the people in the hall and that’s when I finally forced a smile. And we both walked down.
Mama was there at the front sit of my right with Emma while my husband’s family was at the left.
At the left, I could see Mr. Derek Armstrong, father of the man I getting married to, with a straight face and some other people I don’t know.
And when I faced front, I saw Nathan James Armstrong standing there close to the priest, dressed in a black tuxedo and at least his hair and suits seems arranged properly because from I have seen from pictures and when he comes to Uncle’s house when he was my cousin’s husband was really bad.
And we reached the priest, Frank left me and now me and Nathan faced each other.
Nathan faced took my hands shockingly and said “hey” and kissed my hands
We took our vows and exchanged our rings, and when we were announced husband. We did not kiss, luckily. He just kissed my hands again and we both came down the aisle with him holding my hands.
We got down, he finally let go of my hands. And we both went our separates because our family divided us with congratulations and talks without even giving us chance to speak to each other.
“Congratulations babe” Emma came running to me in a hug. And so many people came with congratulations, wedding advise and even expecting babies, it was really frustrating a little.
People kept on flooding with congratulations.
My new life has finally started.
