“Fire! There’s fire everywhere” the once peaceful and hidden community was now terrorized by humans. Screams filled every corner of old and young, trying to shield themselves from the doom that befalls them. “Honey…” the tired man stopped in his track, the toddler on his harm, weeping nonstop. His wife stopped running, confusion mixed with fear written on her face, the worried woman wondering why her husband stopped. “ What’s wrong?” she questioned, the man walked towards her in long and sharp strides “ take the kids and hide amongst them “ the he petrified and panicked husband instructed as he handed the toddler to her. With shaky hands, he rubbed her face, resting his head on hers for a brief second. “ Why are you leaving me? Let’s leave together, please…” she pleaded, refusing to let her husband go back into that deadly battlefield. She strongly held unto his thorn shirt, refusing to let go with heavy tears streaming down her face. “I’m the chief honey” he whispered, rubbing her shoulders soothingly, “what would be said of me, if I abandon my people, I’ll be fine, I promise” he assured, kissing her forehead and those of his kids, momentarily. “Here’s a scent block, block your scents with this” he gave his wife a bottle of pills, filled to the brim “ you know where to go right? May the moon goddess guide and be with you” he blessed them, before turning his back on them, refusing to behold the emotional distress his family were in, “ at least, they are safe now” he said to console himself. “ Till we meet again, my love” he muttered, dragging his tired self to the battle ground. Since that unfortunate event; the ambush on the werewolves, made them seek refused in the same world that wanted them gone, perfectly disguising themselves as their very nightmare for many years to come. YEARS LATER Amy, a young girl of so many dreams, a relentless fighter, who relentlessly fights for her goals until she attains them. Unfortunately, life is not always sweet to her kind; maltreated by her father, who never fails to remind her and blame her for the death of her mother, who she never even got a chance to meet. Her aged grandmother took over the responsibility of nurturing her, sadly, after her demise, the responsibility falls on her now, the responsibility to survive in her very cruel world. Her father works at construction sites, but the irresponsible man spend his entire income on gambling and alcohol. Amy is very smart and intelligent, and this has helped her in her education, a poor girl being on scholarship wasn’t uncommon but considering how smart she was, it was quite rare for her type. Despite faced with so many challenges and problems, she ignored them all, channeling her thoughts on the positive things; the day she finally escape the hell hole she calls a home. “ Hey! Filth!” her father shouted, hitting the door sloppily, by the sound of his voice, one could easily tell how drunk he was. Amy took a very deep, fearful sigh, a known fear of what’s to come if she opened the door. The loud knock intensified, restrained and slugged footsteps, she finally opened the door “ what took you so long!? Filth” he spat, slurred. He threw a fist at her, luckily, because of his drunken state, he missed as she dodged the impact. The drunk quickly regained himself as she threw another heavy punch at her, directly on the pale and malnourished stomach, hitting her repeatedly, until his cruel heart was satisfied. Her screams could be heard across the neighborhood but no one came to her rescue, everyone was used to her scream, it was usual “she’ll be fine” they said “ she won’t die, this is not new” others commented. This was her life, this was where she found herself, this part of the world. At the other side, there lived a family of three, in a neighborhood that seems far-fetched to many, especially to those who cannot afford the lifestyle. A family envied by te world, tagged the perfect family. They say ‘do not judge a book by its cover’, an orange could look sweet on the outside and taste sour when eaten. One could describe the Smith’s family dynamic in such a way; the Father, CEO of a reputable enterprise, only lives to accomplish his selfish ambitions, a tyrant in his own world. His words are final, anything he says goes. His wife, known for her lavish lifestyle, she spends like money falls on her laps anytime she requested it. Yes, they have a son, they had to. It was necessary to have an heir, someone who will inherit all in the future. Jack, a young boy raised in a loveless home, his mother barely have time for him, she may not even remember she has a son. His father, who is rarely home, only asks about his report cards whenever they were at the dining hall, and that was the end of their conversation, until next report card comes in. Jack and Amy, what does fate have for them? What connections tie them together? Two who came from opposites sides of the society with a dark past tying them together.
