The call went unanswered.
Seeing this, Ethan dialed another number.
"How's that thing I asked you to handle?"
The person on the other end immediately replied, "Mr. Pierce, after Natalie left, she didn't send out a single resume. None of the recruiters in Lydon City have heard anything from her."
Ethan was a little surprised.
"Then what is she doing now?"
The person had no idea. "I'm not sure, but she seems to be home today."
Hearing that Natalie was at home, Ethan relaxed.
He believed he knew Natalie too well.
Natalie was the kind of researcher who practically lived at her computer.
She had stayed by his side ever since they left school. Without him, an introverted woman like her would never have found a job at all.
She must be too shy to go job hunting, so she was still staying home.
Thinking of this, Ethan sent Natalie a message.
Ethan: Happy Thanksgiving. How have you been?
He was certain that once Natalie saw the message, she would reply.
It had always been this way before. Whenever he and Natalie argued, he never needed to apologize. He only had to send a vague message.
Natalie would forgive him.
After sending it, he turned off his phone.

Meanwhile, Natalie was at Clearwater Court.
Several understated black government sedans were parked outside.
Today was Thanksgiving.
Natalie had the day off from the National Research Institute, so she could spend time with her parents.
Natalie saw Ethan's first call in 3 months and didn't answer.
When Natalie saw his message, she calmly ignored it too.
Seeing this, Henry asked in confusion, "Why didn't you reply?"
Natalie said gently, "Dad, over the 3 months since the divorce, I realized how much I had missed. I was too foolish before. I chose to stay in a man's shadow and gave up my own career. Now I've snapped out of it, so there's no need to reply."
After saying that, Natalie deleted Ethan's number and blocked him.
Henry looked relieved. "Glad you've come around. Your mother and I can stop worrying."
After chatting with her father for a long time, Natalie went to help her mother make the pumpkin pie.
In previous years, during Thanksgiving, Ethan never liked staying long with the Hayes family.
He always said he felt uncomfortable here.
Because of that, Natalie always arrived and left in a hurry.
Now Natalie could finally spend quality time with her parents.
After eating the pie, Natalie sat on the sofa with her mother and watched TV.
Her phone kept ringing from time to time.
She picked it up and saw that all the messages were from former coworkers.
A: Natalie, how have you been lately?
B: Natalie, let me tell you, things have been awful for us lately.
C: Mr. Pierce doesn't manage anything at all. That so-called wife of his, Lila Warren, throws her weight around every day.
A: Anyone Lila dislikes gets fired. Her cousin knows squat. He ignores all the bugs and spends every day monitoring our attendance.
B: A lot of senior employees have been fired by Lila and her cousin, and Mr. Pierce doesn't care at all.
Pierce Biotech had been founded by Natalie and Ethan together. Watching someone destroy the work she had poured her heart into, Natalie couldn't pretend she felt nothing.
But the company no longer had anything to do with her.
Natalie typed back.
Natalie: I've started somewhere new. I hope all of you have bright futures ahead of you too.
As soon as the coworkers saw her reply, another photo came through.
Natalie opened it, and her face changed instantly.
