[James's POV]
Paul admitted to me that he was worn out and needed to relax. As I did, I changed into my human form.
White Star Lake was roughly three kilometers away from us. I had assumed that getting there wouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
I checked the crystal bottle inside the brown cloth bag in front of my chest with my hand. I hauled the bottle out of the bag because I was still concerned. When I saw that the two glowing, red pills in the bottle's bottle were still there, I was relieved. I reinserted the bottle inside the bag of cloth.
Unfortunately, the Silver Moon Pack's leader is not the alpha king when he is uncovered underneath a lovely and refined woman.
The witch was perched on the floating wool covering when I glanced up. Her red hair was as thoughtful due to the blazing crystal as the red tablets in my bottle. Even though I didn't believe my body was all that horrible, she covered her amber eyes and had an unhappy expression as if she had witnessed a trash dump.
"You ought to have placed me on your flying woolen blanket if you loathed me and wanted to get rid of me immediately. Witch Lassie, either give me a flying broom or," I said, reaching inside my bag for my one pair of dark blue sports shorts.
"Go ahead. Do you still think that witches fly on those unwieldy brooms? Alpha Guy, I would be happy to give you a lift if you came to weigh as much as the bird I was carrying. Twenty minutes to twelve had passed. You should move quickly. To me, the lark on her shoulder bravely sang.
Eric, that smart guy, wouldn't likely let his daughter be in danger, in my opinion. I swiftly moved forward after donning the sports clothes to ask about the event Lassie had recounted.
White Star Lake Pack's Alpha was Eric. He was muscular and clever. Since the Alpha Conference and my coronation ceremony 20 years before, we hadn't seen each other in roughly 20 years. I didn't anticipate that his daughter would turn out to be a foolish werewolf who might be easily slain.
[Flashback]
Yesterday afternoon, Lassie dropped by my car without warning. She begged me unexpectedly to travel with her to the enigmatic Leyte Mountain right now to rescue my future mate.
I'd be lying if I claimed I wasn't happy to hear that, since it had been more than 30 years since I had discovered my soul partner after turning 18.
I hadn't discovered my Luna until I was 50 years old, at which point I was an alpha and the owner of one of the three largest packs (or Kingdoms in human parlance) on the Night Moon Continent. It seemed unbelievable that I hadn't discovered my soul mate in thirty years, even if my looks and figure have been essentially unaltered since my 20s. However, it was real.
As soon as I realized my future Luna was in danger, I grabbed the Thing and ran to my SUV. Southeast of my rucksack was Leyte Mountain. Without sleep, I would need to go from my pack to Leyte Mountain for ten hours.
Witch Lassie slept in the back of my vehicle for over ten hours, only waking up to tell me that my future mate would be slain by two wolves at midnight.
We entered the Leyte Mountain woodlands a little while ago. However, I was still unsure whether my unknown partner was worth sharing "The Unique Thing" in the bottle that was resting on my chest. After all, the witch brought me back to the world of 30 years ago in exchange for helping me unleash the power of "the Thing" and demanded 100 years of my life.
I still had 250 years of staying if I lived to reach 300 years old, which was the average lifetime of werewolves in this world. But if I provided Lassie a hundred years of my life in exchange, I would pass away on my 250th birthday. For proceeding back in time to 30 years ago, 100 years was a good bargain.
If I was successful, I would also rescue the vitalities of my first love and Emily, my only friend, who is a human. I would have the opportunity to let her fall in love with me as well.
After Lassie informed me that my potential spouse was dying, nonetheless, everything altered. Me and my future partner, Lassie, said she could split the Thing into two drops. However, if the Thing was used by two werewolves, its strength would be significantly reduced.
Just give it some thought. If I had ingested the Thing on my own, I could have been sent back in time 30 years. Everything would have a second chance for me.
Now, if I gave the Thing to my intended spouse, I would likely lose 100 years of my life and be transported back one or two years in time.
That was unjust. Losing some lives didn't scare me in the least. I wasn't sure whether that female was my true mate, which was the key point.
[End of Flashback]
As I diverted down, it took me a minute or two to give these consequences some thought.
Hey friend, don't think about it any longer. Do you not hope to keep our fate alive? You are aware that we have both been predicting her for 32 years. Paul's brings me back to earth.
He was accurate. I had to help my buddy. I could still rescue Emily even if I could just travel back in time to a year ago.
Witch Lassie suddenly ordered her wool blanket to halt in front of me, obstructing my progress. The two crimson tablets in the container on my chest melted into liquid as she stretched out her fingers.
"You can simply drink this thing right now if you have any remaining questions about what I've said. And I'll use my authority to transport you back thirty years in time so you may see your favorite human lady and her new husband being married by taking 100 years off of your life. Her amber eyes were filled with resentment towards me.
