Mariah Lomax It's been a few weeks since I first have gotten to the Rescue Mission. It's not bad... I can say I'm adjusting well to the community. And the whole city of New York. Amanda assigned us in groups to go look for Job Applications.  She assigned me with Autumn and Sabria. I've been skeptical about those two. Autumn likes to steal. She may smile in your face all day but you'll wake up the next morning with your s**t gone. Just last week Autumn got her ass beat for stealing this girl's clothes. The sad part about it, her and her three kids were kicked out of the Rescue Mission. I felt bad just because she didn't have anywhere to go. All because of Autumn's ass.  It really should've been Autumn. She should've been the one to leave just because she caused the fight. But the girl beat Autumn's ass so bad that Autumn has to walk around with a black eye. The black eye she covers with excessive makeup. Now, everybody at the Rescue Mission calls her Morticia. She gets upset each time someone calls her that.  But, hey... I will rather be called Morticia than getting laughed at how I got my ass beaten. That girl did Autumn dirty. But Autumn deserved it, before and after the girl gotten kicked out.  Sabria still has her days when she wants to be nice. I still don't pay her any mind. But today I have too since she's helping Autumn and I with jobs.  As much as Sabria didn't want too, Amanda made her go. I didn't want her to go anyway.  We got up early around 8:00 in the morning. And, left around at 10:00 AM. Our first destination was the library. The whole walk there, Autumn was talking Sabria and I head off. Like she's doing now.  "I want some McDonald's. I'm applying for McDonald's. f**k that. I can get some free food." Autumn said as she fantasized about working at McDonald's.  "Fool you only get free food if you're working there." Sabria rolled her eyes and said. "s**t I don't care." Autumn said as she shrugged her shoulders.  "What you applying for Mariah?" Autumn turned around and asked me as I walked behind them. "I don't know actually. But I'm going to apply for a lot of jobs. And whichever job I get an interview for first, will be my job."  "Well s**t you got everything planned. I might need ya' help with my Resume." Autumn joked. I laughed but I stopped once I didn't hear her laugh back. "I'm for real." Autumn said seriously.  I rose my eyebrows. "Are you asking or telling me?" I asked her. "Both." She answered with a straight face. "Sure, why not." I shrugged my shoulders and agreed on helping her.  "Good looking out. Cause some of us couldn't afford to go to college." Autumn snickered. "Or finish high school." Sabria laughed. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I'm tired of their petty ways. I was about to say something until I saw a flyer fly across the street but it was landing.  Something told me to follow the flyer. I turned around and followed it as it fell on the sidewalk. I was about to reach for it until it sliding on the concrete. Me chasing after the flyer made me bump into somebody.  "Sorry." I tried to apologize to the person but he kept walking. From the back, he looks good. Had a Burberry coat with fur, some Timbs, and I think a chain and a watch on too. He even smelt good too. I wish I could've seen his face.  I just knew he was fine.  I stopped eye r****g the man, and turned around to see the flyer stuck on a pole. I walked towards the pole and snatched the flyer madly all because of the trouble but also good luck it gave me. I examined the flyer, it had a bunch of half-naked women on it... On a pole. Which means they were Strippers.  After, I looked at the strippers, I started reading the flyer. It says: "Amateur Night at Diamonds every Saturday, 21 and up"  My eyebrows rose up. Maybe this could be a sign. Dollar signs, Money,  being thrown in the air. I could just imagine how much money I'll be taking home. I'll be the Rescue Mission fast. But the first night could probably get me a hotel room. And I don't mind that at all.  As I thought about it. Would I really be setting my standards low on becoming a stripper? I could receive the backlash and the negatives from being a stripper. And I could be endangering myself too. Just because of how men are with women. They like to take advantage.  But one thing for certain I'll have plenty of protection. This time. Last time I was in love and a fool for being in love with someone that wasn't mentally stable. What if I end up meeting someone like Jamie at the club? I can't ever go through that again. I won't and I refuse.  I was about to throw the flyer away but I took one last glance at it. I might actually use that for an advantage in case if I needed extra money. Or a side job.  I folded the flyer and put it in my wallet. I turned back around, ready to walk again. I noticed how far Sabria and Autumn got. I shook my head. They couldn't bother to stop for me.  I jogged my way up to them. They were about to hear my mouth. "I like how yall didn't wait up for me." I said with an attitude. "Girl we on a time frame. You weren't that far. And I don't know why you were chasing after a piece of paper anyways." Autumn replied smartly.  A piece of paper that's going to make me a lot of money. I thought.  I was going to share the idea of it, but I'll keep my mouth shut. "Whatever... But did yall see that dude behind yall before yall crossed the street?" I inquired.  "What dude?" Autumn turned and looked around. I looked back too, he was gone. "She's talking about Trap." Sabria looked at Autumn. "TRAP? HIS FINE ASS?" Autumn asked loudly with her eyes big.  "Wait who's Trap?" I furrowed my eyebrows asking curiously. "One of the biggest drug dealers in New York. His fine ass. I'd f**k the s**t out of him. But he too old for me." Autumn said.  "What? How old is he?" I inquired. "23." Sabria and Autumn said in unison. I scrunched my face up. "What? Autumn that's not bad."  "It is for me s**t. Lucky I can't put it on his sideburns." Autumn pouted and crossed his arms. "Yeah you too young for him anyway. And besides, yall wouldn't want him. I already had a little taste of Trap. And I smashed." Sabria said, making me look at her funny.  "Bullshit." Autumn cursed. She took the words right out of my mouth. "I'm not lying. I wouldn't lie on my pussy." Sabria said. But you can lie right through your teeth though. I just kept looking at her. I just had a feeling she was lying.  "So why he didn't say anything to you when he was behind yall?" I asked her as I crossed my arms. "It was so long ago. And I cut him off he just had too many problems. Like he was obsessed with me." Sabria said. Now she definitely was lying.  Autumn and I looked at each other and started laughing. "What's funny? I'm for real I almost had to file for a restraining order out on him. But this is before I became homeless." Sabria explained herself. Of course, she's going to say before she was homeless. I just rolled my eyes.  "But yeah Mariah you ever try to talk to him you're not going to succeed." Sabria said. I furrowed my eyebrows and crossed my arms. "And why is that?" I asked.  "Girl I'm not gonna' tell you." Sabria laughed and waved me off. "Yeah okay. But since you know so much about success... Did you succeed in becoming just a nut? Is that why he didn't talk to you?" I asked with a fake smile.  "That's if she even f****d him." Autumn bust out laughing. "You know what since you're my bunkie I'll let you have that. Just know ain't no next time though." Sabria said but she shot a look at Autumn after.  "But you Autumn you're the last person to laugh." Sabria pointed at her. Making Autumn laugh die down to a cough. "What that's supposed to mean? And it's not gonna' be no next time. Cause next time I'm swinging." I was about to walk up to her face but Autumn blocked me with her arm.  Sabria laughed in my face. "Chill newbie. We still have to live together." Autumn said, making me calm a little bit. I looked at Sabria one last time before I nodded my head. She really will make me slap the dog s**t out of her.  I'm tired of her wannabe cool but fake ass.  The rest of the walk to the library was silent. Sabria knew if she said another word to me, I was gonna' rock her s**t. Every time I looked at her as we walked I wanted to bash her head on the concrete. I don't know what pissed me off more, her laughing in my face or what she said.  That makes me hope and wish I see or run into Trap once again just so I can make her mad. She's pretty but damn why lie though? That was just low.  But I should expect it. He's a well-known nigga with money. But interesting. It makes me wanna' know more about him. Lord, please don't tell me I'm attracted to someone already. I couldn't be... It's too early, and I didn't really get to see his face.  Maybe it wasn't meant for me too. Jamie was a drug dealer but he was an underground one. He damn sure didn't wear designer though. Let me stop sounding bougie. But still... Trap just carries himself a lot differently.  I shook my thoughts of Trap as we walked inside the library. I tried to go my separate ways but Autumn followed me. "She gets on my f*****g nerves sometimes." Autumn said out of nowhere.  I rose my eyebrows. "Who?" I asked her. "Sabria." I rolled my eyes after Autumn said that rodent's name. I really dislike her now. "She just has her bitchy attitude because she had to help us out." Autumn said.  "While she making empty threats. She doesn't know me at all. I don't play about that s**t. I'm from Philly. I'll really beat this girl ass." I said seriously.  "And I don't care Autumn you can go tell her I said that. I'm tired of being pushed over by people."  Autumn smacked her lips and rolled her eyes. "Let's just go find some jobs." Autumn said as we walked to the computers. I sat down at one of the computers. "You got a library card?" Autumn looked at me and asked. I gave her a look. She laughed. "I'm just playing newbie. I stole somebody's card a while ago." Autumn whispered loud enough for me to hear.  "You better slow down doing that shit." I said seriously. "I got this." Autumn made a stank face, and waved me off.  She typed in the code to get on the computer. We had to share it, she brought up a chair beside me. I did her resume first, and helped her apply for McDonald's. After she was done submitting her application, I started surfing the web for jobs in New York.  I found three jobs that I found interesting. A found a Customer Service Phone answerer job, Concessionist, and Usher. I even applied for McDonalds too. Just so I can apply for enough jobs. "Damn how we going to be contacted though?" Autumn asked. Good question. "I just put Amanda's number down. She can tell us." Autumn nodded her head after I said that.  "And if that doesn't work we can check the library every day if we have too."  I implied to Autumn. If none of these jobs give me an interview by the next two weeks I might have to consider being a stripper once after all.
