Dark Times

2059 Words
During class the next day, some of the students who were looking for Kris are standing in front of their room waiting for him to come out. Some of the teachers find it hilarious but some thinks otherwise and considers it a nuisance and disturbance. “Oi, what are you all doing here. Want me to pack you all in some bags and dump you all in your rooms?” a teacher with a dull face said as the students slowly disappears one by one.                              “We need to get out of here man. That teacher, is not someone you should disobey. I heard he is merciless to his students. He is the worst teacher you want to be with.” One of the students whispered to one of their groups and then left without a word. “Students these days just do whatever they want. This is why I don’t like teaching. Back in our day, students are more responsible and rational.” He said to himself as the door opened in the room before him and the teacher inside gives him a thumbs up.                              “You are a great help Mefis.” The teacher says but the teacher shrug him off by saying, “I find it annoying. I did not do it for anyone else.” The teacher continues to smile until the teacher pass by his room. [What the hell is the headmaster doing by nurturing these students when they all get out of the academy and act on what’s beneficial for them. It’s just useless no matter how I look at it.] the teacher says to himself and yawns when his eyes flash in a red color.                              “I hope everyone will be ready for the next practical exams. I want all of you to show something interesting than you have in the past practical test. Otherwise you will have a slim chance in advancing.” Their teacher says with a stern tone without looking at Kris. Then one of the students raise his hand to ask a question. “Will we fight with Kris in the practical test?”  the same questions are in the rest of the student’s minds.                              Apparently, some of them grew wary of Kris’ abilities after seeing Mathos gets defeated for the first time in his life and with the rumor going around that Mathos gets defeated the second time and is sent to a different infirmary after getting heavily injured. “Well, there is no need for you all to worry. Mr. Grindall was given a punishment that will not allow him to advance until further notice. He will all just watch you all advance.” The teacher said with a smile on his face.                              They were all skeptical if that is really the case and wonders what did he commit to have such punishment but both Kris and the teacher refuse to say something when asked. “All I can say is that I did something that made the headmaster furious but he is generous enough to let me enjoy and continue to learn in the academy.” Kris says with an uninterested tone that somehow convince his classmates.                              “I want you all to think of how you will be able to advance and practice it over and over again. If you have any questions, you can ask me anything that I will be able to answer so don’t hesitate.” The teacher then dismiss the class. The teacher then sat on his chair expecting that some of his students would come and ask him for questions and to his surprise, none came to ask him questions.                              [What in the- I wasn’t explaining everything properly in purpose so that they would come to me and ask for clarification yet none of the came to me and ask for questions and went to that bastard instead?!] the teacher then glares at Kris as his classmates surround him all over and asks some questions about their lesson for the day.                              “What do you think about the teacher’s lesson? Do you think it would be possible?” Kris turns to the student who ask him the question and shook his head. “I don’t think its possible to me. That is just how I think it is. The idea about imbedded a magic stone in a human’s body is outrageous and the council will definitely not permit such atrocious act. Not to mention that magic stones are dangerous enough to get close to that’s why they are usually imbedded in staffs and other things that mages are using.” Kris says with an indifferent tone.                              [There is no chance that imbedding a magic stone in a part of your body to enhance your capabilities and strength is just a fool’s dream. People in the past said that it would help a lot in the war between the organization but that I all just an excuse. They started that experiment after a lot of the nobles are jealous of the treatment of the heroes that they looked for some way to get as strong as the heroes who are natural awakeners. And imbedding a magic stone is some parts of their body is the only answer they got close to have better results with.]                              [But the progress halted when the volunteered test subjects died a few days after imbedding magic stones in their foreheads. The only person that is able to withstand the magic stone only lived up to fives days after promising that he will last at least a month. The kingdom prohibited such experiment just as the council suggested, but there are many enthusiast that are still clinging to the idea of being on the same stage as the heroes.]                              [Most of the nobles are supporting the experiment in the shadows and it resulted in a really dramatic way. The cruel death of countless people as their face deformed drastically that even their nose and mouth closed, preventing them to breathe air. They all died of suffocation. But that did not stop them, when they all run out of mages to experiment on, they turned to the civilians in fear of decimating the forces of the kingdom to nothing but corpses and it all started there. Missing person were reported in a daily basis and their numbers are not small, the kingdom has their hands full with the organization that they did not realize that the experiment on magic stones have gone so far and found it too late. A lot of people have died and the kingdom is on the verge of collapsing.]                              Kris face turned sour after he remembers the scenes from his past life where dead bodies lie just on the sides of the street. [Just thinking of that time pisses me off. And to think that a teacher really just gave the students the idea about that hideous experiment.] Kris turns to their teacher and sees that he is not please with what Kris is saying about the experiment. “Can you tell me exactly why it will not succeed Mr. Grindall?  Please let everyone in the room hear it.”                              The teacher wants to pick on Kris but he is pissed by the darkest memories from his previous life and could not help but ride on what their teacher wants. “That is easy, teacher. Magic stones are concentrated energies and a huge mass of manacules that a human will not be able to contain. Imbedding a magic stone in your body is just asking to die. Not to mention that we ourselves can also be considered a magic stone but a living version of it.” Kris says with a stern tone.                              “What do think will happen when two vessels clash? As part of the universal law, the weaker vessel will lose and the strong one will prevail.  That is all there is to it, a human will most likely last around a week with a deformed limb or face that will cause their deaths. A ridiculous experiment just to be on the same levels as the awakeners is just ridiculous and utterly useless.”                                Kris’ words anger the teacher not because he is right but because some of the information that he stated is not something that he even knows. [Where the hell does this bastard gets all that information? Is he really backed by someone and is forced to stay a low profile? Some of the words that he stated is not even discovered from the experiment yet, perhaps he is related to the ones that are opposed to the idea?] the teacher then starts sweating with just the thought of it.                              Seeing that their teacher is speechless of Kris’ words, they all admire and praise them inside their heads with the feat that he showed them. “Whoa- I don’t think I would want to advance if class would be this entertaining every time.” One of the students actually whispered to his peers. “If you’ll excuse me. I will still have some training to do.” Kris says and leaves the room with everyone speechless. Some of the students also proceed to leave a few moments after until the classroom is empty, leaving only the teacher wondering to himself of the possibilities that Kris is keeping a low profile and the punishment that he might face.                              Johannes saw Kris walking to the training area and sees the sour expression on his face and immediately understood that he is angry and knows what will happen next so he follows Kris to do the same thing. Kris throws his bag o the side and immediately lift some weighs. The physical training area is usually empty all due to the mind set of most mages that they no longer need to get themselves fit but this time there are a few students and they are those who follows Flora.                              “That surprised me, I thought some ghost lifts some weighs.” James muttered after seeing Kris lifting the weighs easily like a maniac. “He looks pissed to me. What do you think made his mood so bad?” he turns to his friend who did not have the slightest idea.                              Ophir wants to say what he always says but James stops him. “I know what you are trying to say. And sorry about that, I can’t help but ask someone but I’m unfortunate enough to be with you all the time.” James’ words made Ophir pissed and then Johannes comes inside, finally someone who knows what might have happened to Kris.                              “Perfect timing Johannes, what do you think happened that made him that pissed? He looks really-“ “Pissed? I know, he does that every time he’s angry and pours all his anger in training. That’s why he is terrifying when he is angry because it can also empower him.” Johannes said and then turns to them. “Why are you both here anyway? I thought none of the students in the academy use this area.”                              James and Ophir looks at him like there is nothing wrong with them using the training facility. “We found that getting our bodies fit is also a must so we decided to train ourselves after that day.” James says and then asks Johannes if he also came to train.                              “Nah- I don’t think I will need one. Yesterday Kris told me to ask the headmaster if he can confirm that I am an awakener and I did so, training my body is useless?”                              KLANK!                              Ophir drops the weighs after listening to his words in shock. “What the hell did you say? You’re an awakened?” James wants Johannes to confirm but the smirk on his face says it all. “Yeah- it turns our that I have inhuman strength. No wonder I can punch really, really hard in the past. You see this stigma in my hands? I thought they were just some birth mark or something so I ignored it in the past but Kris was the one that told me that I might be an awakened and I didn’t believe him since awakened tend to be heroes right?” Johannes says with a huge smile on his face.
