Weight of a Spell

“I have been sensing the disturbance in the flow of mana. Something must have happen or someone must be manipulating the flow of mana. Should we not check it out?” Mephisto turn to his old friend who immediately brush his idea away.

“You can see that the mana has been moving in a different pattern right? I, too have the same thought in mind but we should let them be. All we need to focus now is to find the people that have already spreading the influence of that wretched group. They glorify him but they stray from his ways and started gathering people under their wing, people of the same minds and thoughts.” The headmaster says sternly.

“I think I already have an idea who is one of them. Duke Graine, I saw him trying to recruit Kris but the young man refused to join so they are forced to use violence. I think he is one of the pillars. I also got the feeling that there was one of them hiding in thin air. That person must be using some kind of advanced spell for me to even unable to see them.”

The headmaster’s complexion darkens when he hears of this and pat his friend’s shoulder. “So they have started moving huh? Monitor that student carefully. We should be careful not to do anything hasty. The Graine family has been laying low for years. Who knows what they might be plotting.” The headmaster reminded.

Mephisto then nod his head and prepares to leave doe something when the headmaster calls out to him. “I know that you are a careful person but still, I am reminding you to be careful. They are just as strong as we are or even stronger since they have been cultivating their strength. I don’t want to lose any more that’s close to me.” Mephisto smiles as the headmaster’s words rub him off differently.

“Speak for yourself. You are the headmaster of this academy. Their eyes will be fixed at you no matter what you do.” Mephisto reminded but still accepted his friend’s advice and heads out.

Meanwhile

Jhonas is the last one to have his mana condensed. They find it utterly troubling to be doing something like that in a public place so they decided to go to Flora’s room where it is spacious that can accommodate everyone during the process.

“The denser your mana is, the lesser it will cost for a spell. Our first condensing, it will cost us only 75% of the required mana to activate spell. That would be a really great help for us of we want to use different spells at the same time. Not to mention that our spells would have doubled the effect. For example.”  Kris surrounds himself with magic circles. “Mana barrier.”

Everything looks normal but when they did a closer inspection. The realize that Kris’ barrier darken in color. Does this mean that your mana barrier is denser than most?” Jamaica ask but none of the knew the answer since none of them are the way they used to be.

To find out, the group went out to find some students walking in the hallway and ask if they can show them what their mana barrier looks like and found the answer. It really is denser. Those students’ mana barriers are so light that they don’t even look like they have mana barrier on.” She said in conclusion.

They then started wondering about the other spells but Kris tells them to save it for a later date. Kris takes out a piece of paper with a magic circle is drawn and showed it to the others. “What do you think this spell is about?” James being the only one who is obsessed in learning magic circles volunteer to have a look.

“This part of the magic circle means light, but that is all. The rest of the magic circle, I have not seen them in any text books that my family has given me. They don’t look like they are written by humans. Are you sure that it is human made? Because they look ancient.” James said after inspecting the magic circle.

[I have to hand it to you James. No wonder the organization wants you, you are good at things that normal people would not even think of learning. In my past life, reading magic circles are not that even known but few people taken interest in such things that their research about magic circles is what made them breakthrough barriers that they have not broke through before.] Kris smiles happily when he knows he robbed the organization an asset.

At the same time

Duke and Sarah were walking together when Duke suddenly stopped. “ What’s the matter?” Duke smiles and answers her. “I don’t know. I feel like I got angry for a second. Like something I don’t know I need is somehow far away from my hand.” Sarah stares at him blankly, knowing that he doesn’t hold anything on his hand. “Forget it. You won’t understand it anyway.” The two continue to walk, disregarding what he thought but somehow made Duke wonder what he had lost.

“That is the magic circle of the spell that I used that day. You know, when I was running away from the students.” Flora, James and Ophir were speechless and unmoving while the others are confused as to what he is talking about, Johannes notice that the three are unusually quiet and so he takes a look at them. “Hey, you three good?”

He asked but the three did not respond to him. “No way! That spell!? Are you serious?!” James scream out of nowhere and spook almost everyone. “What?! What is it James?!” Jhonas also scream in confusion.

“Kris is basically giving us a spell, an invisibility spell.” Flora says in response to his question. Everyone smiled at first but their smiles gradually disappeared when they felt the weight of the spell that Kris is just handing to them casually. They all turned to their concerned expressions which surprise Kris more than anyone else. “What? What is going on? I thought you guys would be delighted.”

They just look at him trying to ask themselves carefully of they need to acquire such a spell. “So it's an invisibility spell huh? I can’t say I’m not glad but if it falls in the wrong person’s hand then its going to make an even bigger problem.” Jhonas pointed out.
