Sharing A Burden

Without someone to interrupt then further, Kris proceed to the plan in teaching the others how to even enhance their spells.

“Our chanting of spells is like a prayer to the world and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. But that doesn’t mean that we failed, it only happens if something is missing from the requirements of the spell. But sometimes, it is also the absence of the element that your spell is requiring. That is the belief in basic to intermediate spells.” Kris reads from the book that they all know and learned from which made everyone think if he really has something to discuss with them in the first place.

“We all know that Kris, its like they have repeated it for almost a hundred times.” Ophir says impatiently without thinking of the thinking hard about it. [He really gad to say that huh? He really is an i***t. He is just recalling the basics and maybe use it as our foundation for our next subject.] James though to himself as their disappointment of Ophir is hidden from their faces.

“Yes, I know that. Especially us in the lowest of classes. It has been repeated over and over again but what of the f*******n spells? Does anyone know the requirements of such spells?” Kris turns to James and Ophir for an answer after seeing that they were the only ones who seem to know the f*******n spell that he first used.

“We read everything about Meteor Shower except its requirements. Is there even such a thing as requirements?” James said to Kris who almost immediately smiles at him. “Looks like James and Ophir are the only ones who knew of f*******n spells. I know that each and every family has a f*******n spell exclusive only to that family but students in our age are still not allowed to acquire it due to some reasons but mainly because of our impulses that could bring disaster. And the thing is, there are no requirements for f*******n spells. They are basically spells that doesn’t abide by the common sense of this world and that its only purpose is only is to either wreck havoc and destroy the balance of the world or keep and maintain the balance of the world.”

Jhonas can relate to what Kris said and that he knows the values of f*******n spells, especially the people that knows how to use them. “The people that knows how to use f*******n spells are granted power in every kingdom and are viewed as treasures of the kingdom. I saw some of them in our palace all the time and I have never seen them use a single f*******n spell even once. My father values them so much that they even have their private quarters in the palace. I heard from their stories that a single f*******n spell might destroy a kingdom for good. And that’s why kings and queens alike are keeping them in check for the good of every kingdom.” Jhonas’  words opened the eyes of everyone that is not in the royalty and realize how dangerous it could be for a wandering user of a f*******n spell user to be roaming around.

“And today I will all be teaching you something that I happen to stumble upon, its not considered to be a f*******n spell but its just right there in the f*******n area.” Everyone stares at him blankly. “Hey, Kris. Do you realize how we felt when we thought of how dangerous for one to be walking around knowing how to use a f*******n spell? I don’t think we can carry that much weight on our shoulders-“ Kris cut Flora off before she can finish.

“What are you even talking about. This spell doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t destroy a kingdom like kaboom! Gone! And it doesn’t do anything special.” Kris told them with a disappointed look on his face.

“Yeah- if that’s true then lets her it. What does the spell do?” Flora challenge Kris to tell them the effects of the spell so that they can judge if its okay for them to learn or not. “The spell only replenish your mana.”

Everyone looks at him like ‘that’s’s it?’ “What? Why are you all looking at me like that. Didn’t I say its nothing special? That’s it! It restores our mana easily and a lot faster than a mana potion would.” Kris says without any care.

“So it only replenishes our mana without any hassle huh?-!” she nods her head like everybody else but then they realize that even that spell with a simple effect could affect the world in some ways.

“What in the world?! It replenishes mana? You mean we just use that spell and mana is back? Just like that?!” Flora lunges at Kris while inquiring more about the spell but Kris has nothing more to say about it since its all the things that the spell does and wonders why she reacts like that.

“Calm down Flora, you look like a rabid dog.” James and Ophir holds her down like she had gone mad but a few moments later, she calmed down.

“Are you sure about that Kris?” Jhonas ask to confirm it with Kris. “Yeah, want me to demonstrate it for you?” Jhonas shakes his head and volunteers instead. “I’ll do it. But tell me something first, what are you preparing us for?” Kris was surprised that Jhonas somehow caught on to his plans and smiles.

He leans on to Jhonas ear and whispers, “I am preparing you all for the future.” Jhonas nod his head understands. “Then let me show you the magic circle, try your hardest to understand it.” Kris place his hand on Jhonas’ head and a system notice rings inside his head.

Kris confirms it and the mana circle is imprinted at Jhonas’ mind but to Kris’ surprise, the system prints it as a tattoo on Jhonas’ left arm. [What in the world is that system? I thought you are only going to imprint it on his mind?] Kris protested at the system but then it justifies its reason for doing something unnecessary.

Answer: The tattoo will appear on top of the user’s skin if it is available to use.

Kris then saw the convenience of what the system did and says his thanks. Jhonas is also aware of the tattoo on his arm and ask Kris about it. “Ah, that is like a timer that will give you a sign if the spell is ready to use.” Kris said to Jhonas who is still confuse of the tattoo. Okay, then. Doppelganger.”  Jhonas did the same thing as Kris to drain his mana but his limit is only 3 doppelganger because his brain can only manage to control 3 at the same time.

“This is my limit for now. I think I’ll just have to use mana barrier to exhaust my mana.” Jhonas and the three doppelganger use mana shield and a minutes later, his mana is fully drained.

He can already feel the pain stringing around his body and activates the spell that Kris handed him. “Call for mana.”

PWOOOOM!

The mana exploded around Jhonas and then a quickly gathered inside him and the spell ended with him brimming almost full of mana. “What in the world-? I felt the flow of mana in the air even for an instant.” Richard said while Jhonas on the other hand is amazed of the effects of the spell. “Wow- I never felt that before.” Jhonas mutters and then sees that the tattoo disappeared and saw that only a small portion of the tattoo is appearing.

The others then ask him if he feels different from before and if he aches anywhere. “No, if anything. I feel refreshed and calm. As if something cleansed me.” Everyone then got excited when they learned that Jhonas did not suffer anything and wants to have the spell as well.

“Eh? Weren’t you guys against it at first so why are you all so enthusiastic about it now?” Kris said with a teasing tone. “Eh?!” everyone mutters in unison. Kris saw how devastated they are and told them it’s a joke and did the same thing to the others.

The tattoo of the spell appears on the same place like Jhonas. “Its up to you guys if you want to use it but you’ve already seen its effects so it would be wasteful to try it now. I’m giving this all to you so that you can use it in times of need. That way you don’t need a mana potion to replenish you mana. Not only that it cost so much, its not convenient to carry as well.” Kris said to the others

“I just ask all of you to keep this a secret. Once the outside world knows, it might cause chaos. We don’t want the people that sells mana potion to be affected.” Kris reminded them but they are now curious as to why Kris is doing all this. “Why are you giving us something precious as this? This spell, I have not heard of anything like this. Does this even exist? Everything you do, its as if you are preparing us for something.” Xia said.

Kris turns his head to her and saw everyone had the same feeling of what he is doing, even his best friend feels the same as the others. “What are you talking about? I’m just helping my friends. I can’t be the only one that gets to be strong.” Kris shrugs off their thoughts with a smile.

“I’m pretty sure Kris has his reasons. All we should do is train ourselves to be better and show results. That is the only thing we can do to pay him back knowing that he did not waste his time with us.” Jhonas said out of nowhere. Being the one that somehow knows what Kris wants to achieve, he now bears the burden that Kris had been carrying the whole time.

That afternoon, Jhonas receives a letter from his father about the thing that he told him. He looks around if there are other people nearby and wait until he returns to his room to read the letter.

His eyes shot up when he saw the contents of the letter and smiles. “That idiots had been right all along. Tell me Kris Grindall, are you from the future or are you here to put this world in the right track?” He mutters to himself as he puts down the letter on the table.

‘Thank you for giving me a hint son, we caught your uncle red handed in Tisara. We caught him selling our family secrets to the organization of all people. We are planning on what to do with him that sold our secrets, death is an easy way to let him off.’
