Chapter Six

Chapter Six Aurora’s POV: My eyes slowly fluttered open. Even that small action seemed to require a lot of effort. Heck! I was feeling quite drowsy and I could sense a little headache pounding away at the back of my head. As I became aware of my surroundings, the fact that I was lying on what might be “The world’s comfiest bed,” registered in my thoughts. I could lay here forever. But first things first, Where am I? I slowly got up and noticed a wide window to the side. Looking out the window, I was met with a magnificent view of nature. I’d recognize Lake Victoria and the luscious green grass surrounding it anywhere. And there was only one building that could offer such a close-up view of the lake, The Pack House. I gasped as soon as I realized I was in one of the exclusive rooms in the Pack House. Judging by the exquisite furniture, this might be one of the best rooms in the entire house. Rooms like these were usually reserved for visiting Alphas. Alpha... Alpha... Alpha Gerald. Omg, I suddenly remember the events leading up to my blackout. At that same moment, I hear the sound of the door opening and turn to look. Relief courses through my body as I recognize the beautiful face of my best friend. “Hey, you’re finally awake,” Jasmine says as she beams at me. I smile back and gesture at her to sit on the bed next to me. “How long was I out?” I asked, “About an hour give or take,” She responded. Then she offered me a glass of water in her hands that I hadn’t noticed previously. I gulped the water hastily, it felt like I had been thirsty for ages. “So...” I started anxiously, “did I imagine meeting a man who claimed to be my father or did I actually imagine it?” “You definitely didn’t. Everyone’s talking about it downstairs. It must be the most shocking thing I’ve ever heard. I think it’s true. Oh Aurora, I really do hope it’s the truth. I don’t see why Alpha Gerald would say so if it wasn’t true!” The words burst out of her mouth in quick succession. “Wow...” I was lost for words. It was like my brain was having a hard time processing this new information. I could be the daughter of an Alpha. Me. Aurora. An omega. How could this be possible? I could hardly believe it. “Aurora, get excited!” Jasmine got up and twirled around. A sign that she was overexcited. “Do you know what this means? You’re literally royalty. You’re the daughter of an Alpha. Wait, that means you’re an Alpha too. Omg! Aurora, you're not an Omega anymore… That must be why you haven’t gotten your wolf yet.” I so desperately want to believe what Jasmine is saying. But there’s a bigger part of me that wonders if this is some sick joke to further humiliate me. “Jas, what if he doesn’t want me? What if he was mistaken? What if he doesn’t like me and abandons me? I don’t think I can handle that?” After hearing me voice my fears, Jasmine sits back down and holds my hands. “Come on, let’s be positive. Finally, something good is happening to you and you shouldn’t let your doubts overshadow your feelings.” I breathe in deeply. “But where’s my mum? And what’s happening downstairs? And Alpha... I mean father...Alpha Gerald?” “Alpha Gerald asked for you to be brought upstairs to rest, this is his reserved room by the way. He followed us here with your mom and they left after you were settled in. Something about how they had to talk. The coronation celebrations are still ongoing, it’s more like a party now.” “Ok…” I nod slowly and then get up from the bed. I’ve had enough of lying around. “I think we should go. I don’t want to go back to the party, I mean home. Honestly, I don’t feel very comfortable staying here.” Jasmine looks at me intensely for a few seconds and then says “Ok, are you feeling good enough to walk?” I nod and quickly add; “…or you could carry me in your strong arms?” Jasmine laughed. “Of course. Knight in shining armor at your service.” She completed her declaration with a mock salute. Then she led me out of the room. We walked down a long corridor before reaching the stairs leading downstairs. I was awed all through, even throughout my years of dating Michael I had never been allowed in these parts of the Pack House before. The stairs led to the large garden at the back of the building. As we approached, I could hear loud music and shouts of celebration coming from the garden. Shit! Everyone must’ve moved from the hall to the garden which was more accommodating for the enormous crowd that showed up to attend the coronation. It made sense since the formal part of the ceremony would have been conducted. I looked at Jasmine unsure of whether to continue walking. As if being able to read my thoughts, she replied; “It’s fine. It’s not like we’re going to walk right in the middle of the party, there’s a path by the side. It will be a quick walk. Maybe nobody will notice us.” We both knew that the last part was untrue, everyone would be able to see us. “Ok let’s get on with it then,” I sighed. As we stepped into the garden the entire party abruptly fell silent, even the music was stopped. I kept my eyes on the ground and urged Jasmine to keep walking. I needed to get out of here as soon as possible. I didn’t dare to look at anybody. Suddenly I felt as if the air around me changed. Power. Someone very powerful was here! And this person must have had a domineering aura because my instincts were telling me to bow and submit. And yet, I thought this was familiar. Next to me, Jasmine had stopped walking and was now bowing. She tugged on my dress, an indication that I should also be bowing, but my curiosity got the better of me, I needed to see who was causing such an effect on everyone. Slowly, I lifted my eyes and looked around. Almost everyone was bowing too, a few members were kneeling. Even Our Alpha and Michael had gotten up from their table with their heads slightly bent. Nobody was moving. What exactly was this? Then I caught sight of the Man, or should I say, Wolf, who was causing such a stir. He could have been a God with the elegance with which he carried himself. He literally exuded authority. Everything about him, from his dark hair that fell to his shoulders, his piercing gaze, to the quick yet relaxed strides as he walked screamed authority. There was just something about this man that made everything he did special. He was walking directly towards the party, while I was standing at the side of the garden so I wasn't in his line of vision. But I had a clear view of his side profile. It just made sense to stop while such an important person passed by, besides if I walked now he would definitely notice movement from the sides. I had a feeling that nothing would get past this Man and I really didn’t need attention drawn to myself. It was a good thing he was here though, everyone was either staring or bowing which meant nobody was looking at me. A small win, but I was immensely grateful for it. When the man reached the front of the garden, he went straight for the most elegant chair at the head of a long table and sat in it. I would have thought that chair would be Michael’s seat since today was a celebration for him and he was supposed to be the man of the hour. Only then did I notice Michael standing awkwardly to the side of the man. Everyone else was still standing as if under a spell. The man then gestured offhandedly for Michael to sit down. Only then could Michael sit. His father cleared his throat awkwardly and then faced the crowd. “Everyone, it’s my pleasure to announce that the King of Kings, Alpha of Alphas, the highest of us all, Superior King Klaus is here to celebrate with us!” Alpha announced with both fear and pride. I guess his pride stemmed from the fact that the highest wolf was here in our pack and fear of making a mistake and risking the anger of the Superior King. All at once, the crowd began cheering and applauding loudly. So this was the Superior King who was always spoken about in fear? His very presence instilled fear in the hearts of whoever was around him. I tried to get one last look at the King and was shocked when our eyes connected at the last second. I turned away quickly and resumed walking again. I didn’t even care to see if Jasmine was following or not. Warning bells were ringing in my head as if I was missing a very important piece of information. When I found out the reason for my fear, I became paranoid. The realization of who the man was sent me into a frenzy. If I had my wolf, I would have shifted so I could run even faster, but still, I would run as fast as my human legs could carry me. I didn’t care where I went as long as it was away from the pack house. Away from King Klaus, who shared the same face as the man I met at the club. The same man who I must have followed home that night and slept with. My greatest dilemma was right behind me, and he was The king Superior!
