Getting ready for the ball.

Dereck's Pov I walked in to the ball room and saw my parents with our event planner, discussing final touches to preparation for tonight's ball. The ball room looked amazing, I forgot how beautiful this place could be. I love my family very much, but I never felt like I fit in the royal lifestyle. I've never felt like palace was a place for me. I haven't visited my family in a long time and it felt weird, to be back home. I walked towards my parents and they turned around. As soon as they saw me, they both smiled. "Am I interrupting?", I've asked. "Of course not. We're always happy to see you", my mother said with a warm smile. "You don't visit us as often as you used to do", she continued. "That'll be all for now. Thank you, Natalie", my father said to event planner. She bowed her head, turned around and left the room. "Have you seen Andrew yet?", my father asked when he turned back my way. "Yes, I'm actually coming back from him. He didn't have any news about Angelica yet, before I've left him, I said and both my parents looked concerned. I could see, that they were very worried about Angelica as well. "I hope she'll be ok. I can only imagine, how Andrew must feel right now", my mother replied. "I'm going back straight from here, to see if there's any news", I replied. "I just wanted to see you both first, as I'll probably not see you again before the ball", I continued. "I have to say that I really like what you've done with the ball room. I'm sure it'll be a great evening", I said looking around the room. "We'll see you later than. Tell Andrew we've asked about him and Angelica", my father replied. I nodded and smiled, before turning around and leaving the room. As soon as I left the ball room, I rushed back towards Andrew's room. When I reached the door, I saw that they were slightly open, so I looked in without opening them any wider. Andrew was sitting on a chair, beside his bed and Angelica looked like she was asleep. I could see that Andrew was much calmer now. I could see that he cared deeply for Angelica and it made me smile. I wanted my brother to be happy and the way he was looking at Angelica, I knew she was the one for him. They belonged together and I could only hope that one day, someone will feel about me the same way. I haven't found my mate yet, haven't found the one, but I knew she's out there somewhere. As I was standing in the doorway deep in thought, Andrew spotted me and stood up from his chair slowly, trying to not make any noise. He walked towards me, putting his finger to his lips letting me know not to be too loud. I nodded and turned around as we both left the room, and he closed the door behind us. "Have you found out anything yet? Does Michael know what caused Angelica to faint?", I asked trying to keep my voice calm. "Thankfully she regained her consciousness. She is still very weak though and Michael suggested she should rest", Andrew replied and I was relieved to hear that. "That's been said, I've decided that I'll not attend tonight's ball. I'm staying at Angelica's side, she's my priority now", he continued. I could see that he was still very worried about her wellbeing. "I know a lot of people will be disappointed not to see you there, but I can totally understand why you want to stay with Angelica", I answered. "Plus, without you there, all the single ladies will be looking at me", I grinned and winked as Andrew laughed. "Be careful what you wish for, little brother", he replied. "I think it's safe to say, that I'm not looking anymore, so you might be more popular with ladies now", he said with a big smile and we both laughed. "Well, have fun on the ball. I'm going back to Angelica", he said. "Please let parents know, that Angelica is feeling better, I don't want them to worry", he continued. "Sure, I'll let them know. They've asked me to let you know, that they've asked about both of you as well", I replied. "I'd better go now and get ready for the ball", I said and Andrew smiled and nodded. He turned around and went back to his room. It was already getting dark outside, and I needed to get ready, as the ball was going to start soon. Dominic's Pov I didn't like how this turned out so far. I had to change my plans to attend the ball tonight, and I wasn't excited about it one bit. This whole situation with Angelica staying at the palace was going to be an issue, and I had to make sure, that it'll not mess up my plans any further. I've decided that it was time to introduce my niece to prince Andrew. I was planning to do this for a long time, but was waiting for the right moment to come. With all that happened I'll have to do it now, and tonight's ball is a perfect opportunity. I have called Monique and she was delighted to accompany me to the royal ball. I was getting ready for the ball, when I heard knocking on the door. "Come on in", I've answered and one of my servants walked in. "Mr Patrick is here to see you, Sir", he said. I was surprised, as I wasn't expecting him tonight after our conversation earlier today. "Let him in", I replied and he nodded and left. What could Patrick possibly want? Patrick walked in couple minutes after and didn't look happy. "What brings you back here? I thought I told you, that we need to make sure, that no one knows we're working together", I said feeling a bit annoyed, that he didn't listen to my orders. "I know, but I've heared that you're taking Monique with you to the ball", he replied with questioning look on his face. "Why are you bringing her with you? Am I missing something here?", he asked. I looked at Patrick and considered, if I should tell him what I was planning. After a bit of thought, I've decided that it was too early. I didn't want him to mess up my plans, as I knew he still had feelings for her. "She's just coming with me, as I didn't feel like going there alone. Besides I think it's time for her to get to know the royal family, as it may be beneficial for us down the line", I explained. Patrick didn't look very convinced, but didn't question what I've said. "I think you might be right. In that case, I'm not stopping you any longer. Let me know, what you've found out, once you'll be back", he said and I've nodded as Patrick turned around and left. It was time for the ball, and I was ready for it. I don't think the royal family was ready though for what I'm planning for them. And it was exactly what I wanted.
