Who Patrick really is.

Patrick's Pov

"What do you mean, you haven't got her?", Dominic snaps. I can see anger growing in his eyes and his face turns pure red. "I've told you, that we need her for my plan to work", he continued.

"I went to that charity event like you asked me, to convince her to come back to me, but she ignored me", I explained. "I was forced to leave by security guards, but I waited for her outside", I continued. "When she left the building, I followed her. She turned around at some point and saw me, so I've rushed towards her and not thinking much, hit her in the back of her head".

"You did what?", he shouts giving me an angry look. " What were you thinking? We need her in one piece."

"I've just told you, that I wasn't thinking in that moment. I reacted when she saw me", I explained.

Dominic turns away from me and stays silent for a moment. He then turns back my way and looks a bit calmer. "If that's what happened, then why is she not here?", he asked crossing his arms.

"You'll not be happy, to hear what I have to say", I replied. "Just as I was about to pick her up from the ground, Andrew appeared out of nowhere. As soon as I saw him, I run off". Dominic looked at me as if he saw a ghost.

"How did he get there? I thought that he was involved in preparations for the ball", he said as he rubbed his chin. "This is making it a bit more complicated than I expected", he continued. "If he has Angelica, we'll need to make some changes to my original plan. We still need her though and it'll not be easy to get her out of the palace. That place is heavily guarded. And I'm sure that after what happened last night, they'll be even more cautious. Andrew will probably not let Angelica out of his sight."

"I have an invitation for the ball tonight", Dominic continued. "I wasn't going to go, but now I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to attend. We'll not be able to kidnap Angelica from the ball, but I can have a look around, to see what options do we have and how we can get to her. We need to be careful though, no one can see us together. As long as no one knows, that we're working together, we still have a chance for this to work", he said.

I could see that he wasn't happy with the fact that I didn't manage to kidnap her last night, but at least we knew where she was and I was going to make sure that sooner or later we'll get her. And when we'll do, she'll pay for all that her family has done to mine. She'll suffer, like I did all those years. I hated that I had to act like I care about and love her. But as long as she'll suffer, it'll be woth it in the end. The day for payback was coming.

Angelica's Pov

We leave the throne hall and I can feel that Andrew is nervous. I hope we can finish the conversation we had in the garden, but I don't want to push for it.

We walk for few minutes in silence, both of us deep in thoughts. Finally, we get to a door and Andrew stops in front of it. "We can talk in here, it's my library. I always come here if I need some privacy. No one will bother us", he says as he walks in the room and I follow him.

"Let's take a sit", he says pointing towards couple large chairs next to a beautiful fireplace. I nod my head and we both take a sit opposite each other.

"First of all, I want to say, that I know Patrick is an important person in your life and I can understand that it's because he was there for you, when you needed someone to help you through tough times", prince Andrew says and I can see that this conversation is not easy for him. "But what I'm about to tell you, might change your opinion about Patrick", he continues. He takes a deep breath and sighs, before he speaks again.

"Patrick belongs to a family, that used to be highly respected and his parents were friends of royal family", he said and paused before he continued. His eyes staring at the flames in fireplace and he looked as if he wasn't present. "That changed the day, that they decided to betray our trust. His father was a great warrior and was highly respected by our army. What my parents didn't know was that he used this to build his own small army made from his most trusted warriors", his face has now turned red. I could see anger building in him, as he clenched his fists. I felt a strange need to comfort Andrew and I didn't understand where it was coming from.

"He became power hungry and convinced his most trusted warriors, to turn against the King. He planned his attack carefully ,so that no one was expecting it", he continued as he stood up and walked to one of the windows. He was staring out the window, as the anger on his face turned into hurt. "Thankfully, although his attack was planned very well, they didn't have enough warriors to be able to take over the palace", he said as he turned back my way.

"They have been thrown into the dungeons and later sentenced to death. It was a difficult decision for my father, but he had to punish them as he would punish anyone else for treason", he continued. "After Patrick's father has been executed, his mother disappeared and no one knows what happened to her. Patrick on the other hand has been adopted by one of his extended family members and left our kingdom. Last I've heard from him, before I saw him last night, he has promised a revenge for his father's death", he explained.

"I can see why you may think, that Patrick is not a good person and I'm shocked by this story, but I still can't understand why he would want to hurt me", I said as I was genuinely confused at that point. "What all of this has to do with me?".
