8 As was usually the case, after the initial flurry of activity around breakfast and getting guests off on their hike, tour, or destination on the Preserve, there was a lull. J.J. reveled in the quiet, knowing the next surge would be at ten o’clock when the first of the group of eight arrived at the lodge. For now, time was his. He finished the boxed lunches, what the small group and Zach would take to the river as the first three clients were scheduled for a half-day fishing trip. After loading the van with the gear and double-checking that the cabins were ready, he settled behind the desk and waited for Zach to return from the airport.
