Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO Elliot wiped the sweat from his forehead and surveyed the wall he’d just finished painting. He only had one more room to go. “You missed a spot,” said his younger sister Gwen over his shoulder. “Where?” She pointed at a spot near the ceiling. “In the corner. See? I can still see some of the old peach paint.” Elliot squinted, not entirely certain his sister wasn’t full of it, and decided that since she was the boss, he’d paint without protest. He made another pass with the roller. “How about that?” he said. Gwen frowned. “Let me get a brush.” Elliot rolled his eyes, but only because her back was turned. He took the brush from her and said, “I’ll do it.” “Don’t give me that tone. This is my bed and breakfast, and I want it to be perfect.” He patted her on the shoulder.
