Shadow Hunter Mafia Chapter 4: The Boss's Secret Rain fell heavily over Blackstone City. Dark clouds covered the sky, and thunder echoed through the streets like a warning from the heavens. Inside an abandoned train station on the edge of the city, Rex and Elena hid among old cargo containers after escaping the attack on their safehouse. The building smelled of rust and dust. Broken lights flickered above them. For the first time in hours, silence surrounded them. Elena sat on a wooden crate, exhausted. Her clothes were soaked from the rain. Her mind was overwhelmed. Only a week ago, she had been a normal journalist. Now she was running from assassins, uncovering conspiracies, and surviving attacks from one of the most dangerous organizations in the world. Across the room, Rex examined a city map spread across a table. His expression remained calm, but his thoughts were racing. Someone powerful was controlling everything. Someone even Shadow Hunter feared. And now Rex needed answers. Elena watched him quietly. "You've been staring at that map for twenty minutes." Rex looked up. "I'm thinking." "Dangerous activity." A faint smile appeared on his face. Elena noticed it immediately. "See? You can smile." "It was not a smile." "It absolutely was." Rex shook his head. But for a brief moment, the darkness surrounding them felt lighter. Then his phone vibrated. The screen displayed a single message. COME ALONE. IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH. Below the message was an address. An old cathedral. Downtown. Midnight. Rex's eyes narrowed. Someone wanted to meet him. Someone who knew far too much. At exactly midnight, rain continued to pour over the city. The ancient cathedral stood silently beneath the storm. Broken stained-glass windows reflected flashes of lightning. Rex entered carefully. Every instinct warned him of danger. His hand remained close to his weapon. The building was empty. Or so it seemed. Then a voice echoed from the darkness. "You've become difficult to control." Rex froze. A figure stepped forward. Tall. Elegant. Wearing a black coat. Silver hair. Sharp blue eyes. Selene. One of Shadow Hunter's most feared operatives. Rex remained alert. "Why am I here?" Selene smiled slightly. "Because you're asking questions." "And?" "Questions lead to secrets." Thunder shook the cathedral. Selene slowly walked toward him. "You want to know about Phantom." Rex's eyes sharpened. "You know who Phantom is." "I know enough." "Then tell me." For the first time, Selene's smile disappeared. "The truth is dangerous." Rex remained silent. Selene lowered her voice. "Phantom isn't just connected to Shadow Hunter." A pause. Then she delivered the shocking revelation. "Phantom created Shadow Hunter." Silence filled the cathedral. Even the rain outside seemed to stop. Rex stared at her. "What?" "The organization was never independent." Selene looked toward the stained-glass window. "Every mission. Every contract. Every assassination." Her eyes became cold. "Someone has been controlling everything from the beginning." Rex's heartbeat quickened. Everything he believed was suddenly falling apart. Meanwhile, Elena remained inside the train station. She waited nervously. Minutes felt like hours. Then she heard footsteps. Her heart jumped. She quickly grabbed a metal pipe nearby. A shadow appeared. A man stepped into the light. Young. Tall. Brown hair. Friendly smile. "Relax." Elena didn't lower the pipe. "Who are you?" "My name is Adrian." He raised his hands. "I'm not here to hurt you." "That's exactly what dangerous people say." Adrian laughed. "Fair point." Elena remained cautious. "What do you want?" His smile faded. "I came to warn you." Immediately her attention sharpened. "About what?" "About Rex." Elena's expression changed. "What about him?" Adrian looked serious. "There are things you don't know." Back at the cathedral, Selene continued speaking. "Shadow Hunter has existed for over twenty years." Rex listened carefully. "Thousands of members joined believing they were serving justice." A bitter smile appeared on her face. "But justice was never the goal." Lightning flashed outside. Selene's eyes darkened. "Power was." Rex clenched his fists. "Who is Phantom?" Selene hesitated. For the first time, fear appeared in her eyes. Actual fear. Then she answered. "The Shadow Hunter Boss." The words echoed through the cathedral. Rex stared at her. Impossible. Shadow Hunter already had a leader. Shadow. Selene seemed to read his thoughts. "Shadow isn't the real boss." Rex felt the ground disappear beneath him. Everything had been a lie. Every order. Every mission. Every death. Someone hidden above Shadow controlled the entire organization. A ghost sitting on a throne of secrets. Phantom. Across the city, Adrian sat opposite Elena. The train station remained silent except for distant thunder. Adrian looked concerned. "You trust Rex." Elena nodded. "Yes." "And he protects you." "Yes." Adrian sighed. "Then you deserve to know the truth." Elena's stomach tightened. "What truth?" Adrian looked down briefly. Then back at her. "Rex was trained to become Shadow Hunter's future leader." Elena froze. "What?" "He wasn't an ordinary assassin." Adrian's voice remained calm. "For years, the organization prepared him for something bigger." Elena struggled to process the information. "Why didn't he tell me?" "Because he doesn't trust himself." Her eyes narrowed. "What does that mean?" Adrian's expression became serious. "It means Rex is fighting a war inside his own mind." Inside the cathedral, Selene handed Rex an old photograph. The picture showed several men standing together. One face immediately caught his attention. A younger version of Shadow. Another face made his blood run cold. His father. Rex stared at the photograph. Impossible. His father died years ago. Selene watched his reaction carefully. "The story you were told wasn't true." Rex's voice became quiet. "What are you saying?" Selene pointed at the image. "Your father worked for Shadow Hunter." The world seemed to stop. Rex remembered everything. His father's long absences. The mysterious phone calls. The unexplained secrets. All the pieces suddenly fit together. "No..." Selene nodded. "Yes." Rex looked away. Years of anger and grief crashed into him at once. Everything he believed about his family had been built on lies. Hours later, Rex returned to the train station. The rain had finally stopped. Elena immediately stood when she saw him. Something looked different. His expression was colder. Heavier. As though he had aged years in a single night. "What happened?" Rex remained silent. Elena stepped closer. "Rex." Finally he spoke. "Everything was a lie." She frowned. "What?" "My father." His voice cracked slightly. "Shadow Hunter." He looked down. "My entire life." Elena saw genuine pain in his eyes. Without thinking, she gently took his hand. Rex looked surprised. "You don't have to carry everything alone." The words hit harder than any bullet. Because nobody had ever said that to him before. For a long moment, neither moved. The silence between them felt warm. Comforting. Safe. Then suddenly— A loud explosion shook the station. BOOM! The windows shattered instantly. Dust filled the air. Rex pulled Elena behind cover. Gunfire erupted from outside. Attackers surrounded the building. Dozens of them. Black uniforms. Automatic weapons. Shadow Hunter soldiers. Rex looked through a broken window. His expression darkened. They had been found. Again. A loudspeaker crackled outside. Then a familiar voice echoed through the station. Cold. Calm. Dangerous. Shadow. "You've caused enough problems, Rex." The gunfire stopped. Silence followed. Shadow continued speaking. "Hand over the girl." Rex immediately stepped in front of Elena. Protective. Defiant. Shadow laughed softly. "Interesting." The station lights flickered. Then another figure emerged from the darkness outside. Tall. Black suit. Silver gloves. Face hidden. Everyone became silent. Even Shadow's soldiers lowered their heads. Rex stared at the newcomer. A strange feeling settled in his chest. Danger. Pure danger. Shadow's voice suddenly became respectful. "The Boss has arrived." Elena's eyes widened. Rex slowly tightened his grip on his weapon. The mysterious figure stepped forward. Nobody could see the face. Only the shadow beneath the hood. Then a deep voice echoed through the station. A voice filled with power. A voice that commanded absolute fear. "Rex." The mysterious boss stopped walking. "You've been searching for answers." Lightning flashed outside. For a split second, the hidden figure's eyes became visible. Cold silver eyes. Exactly like Rex's. Rex froze. The boss smiled. And spoke words that changed everything. "Hello, son." To Be Continued...
