Brennan was angry. I had seen it in his eyes when he glared at me and insisted I let Lorne look me over. Make sure I was alright. I had watched his hands curl into fists at his side. So, I hadn’t said anything as we had walked back to the camp, me with the blanket wrapped tightly around myself. He hadn’t come into the tent with me, and I was relieved. But, neither had Lorne shown up. So I was sitting on the pallet, a blanket wrapped around myself, knees pulled up to my chest, and a numbness spreading throughout me. I knew it was good that Lorne was going to make sure my injuries weren’t worse than I thought. I even knew it was stupid to have put him off the way I did. I just hadn’t been able to talk about it. Or show them to anyone. I didn’t want them to know that was the way I had lived.
