“The river is just ahead,” Tarrin said, his voice only loud enough to be heard over the hoof beats. “We’re almost out of here.” I gave a quick nod, but gasped when the last of the trees fell away, and we were faced with a pack of wolves, all of them angry, and all of them blocking the way to the river. We pulled up, stopping with not nearly enough room between us and the other pack. I looked back to see them closing ranks around us. We were trapped. Tarrin and Asher were flanking me, both of them glaring around us at the other wolves. “Let us through, Farin. We’re just trying to get home.” Farin smirked at Brenna and stepped forward. “I knew you would come this way. Would you like to know how?” “You clearly sabotaged the bridge.
