Chapter 46-1

715 Words

BRENNAN She looked so nervous. I felt a twinge of guilt in my chest for not coming to talk to her earlier. We hadn’t been able to talk on the run back to the camp, but I could have talked to her before we came back, or even sought her out immediately once we arrived. I scratched at the back of my neck and let out a sigh at the sight of her. Whatever she saw on my face, or read in my sigh, it made her shoulders slump, and she tugged the blankets further up, though at least she didn’t cover her face with them like when I had entered. The truth was, I didn’t know what to say to her. I hadn’t thought she was my fated mate, not once, even when I was marking her. So, to say I was surprised when her gaze met mine and the fragile bond we had already formed strengthened was an understatement.
