I sat, staring at the entrance to Kiera’s tent, unable to make myself walk in and see her. I knew she wouldn’t be happy to have me in her space right then. Honestly, I was surprised she hadn’t kicked Lorne out yet. Not that any of this was his fault. I didn’t need the glares of my people to tell me how much I had messed up.
The fact of the matter was, I didn’t even know why I had gotten so angry. Was it really worse that she would think me safe enough to get out of the horrible situation she had been in if she had been carrying another man’s pup? Was it any worse than thinking she had tried to get pregnant that night in my bed? What about it had driven me so out of my mind with rage that I had ordered her to be examined without her consent?
Even thinking about it made me cringe
