Brennan’s head jerked toward me, and I knew he was surprised I had asked him a question and prolonged our conversation. Still, he answered without hesitation. “Just another couple of days. We would have been home by now most of the time.” Guilt slipped through me, and I let out a sigh. “Except I keep delaying you.” “No!” Brennan said, then hesitated. “Well, yes, perhaps. But, no one blames you.” This time I snorted and looked at him. “Are you serious right now? Do you not see the way your wolves look at me? At least half of them blame me. And, it makes sense. They’re probably missing their families. They are tired of being on horseback. Tired of living out of tents. It really is my fault.” Brennan frowned at me. “It is not your fault that you were hurt when we first met you.” I shrugg
