Two wolves had died. Their bodies had been taken with us when we moved away from the battleground. We had too many injured wolves, but Brennan refused to stop until we were off of Pason’s land, worried we would be attacked again. Only then did he allow the pack to set up camp. Needing somewhere to set up some kind of infirmary, I volunteered my tent, one of the largest in the camp. Brennan had watched with a clenched jaw, then disappeared into the forest surrounding us.
