Jade Lucas handed the gun and she stared at his silhouette as he entered Jeremy’s house. It wasn’t surprising that the door was ajar. For what Jade had known of Jeremy, he was a dependable man. Going incommunicado for over a day wasn't his style. She had been hoping that everything was well with him. She knew her prayers weren't answered as she saw the darkness surrounding the house and the ease with which Lucas entered Jeremy's house. Where was the burglar alarm? Where was the security that Jeremy should have had owing to his classified work with a vampire? In the last few weeks that she had known him, he never came across as an irresponsible type.
