As she saw Scarlet attack Lucas with her sword, Jade jumped between them. She tried to manoeuvre her dagger to block Scarlet’s strike. In other fights, she would have attacked first and attacked hard, probably killing her opponent.
But here she was only aiming to block Scarlet. The love of her life. She couldn’t think of harming Scarlet even when Scarlet was fighting to kill.
It backfired. Scarlet was lightning fast and fought without reservations.
Loving the opponent cost Jade dearly as Scarlet’s sword pierced her belly with an intense slicing pain as her soft organs gave way to the sharp sword.
