Meanwhile, in an unknown location, Jade opened her eyes to a dark room. She blinked a few times, willing her eyes to take in the surroundings. Her blurry vision in the absolute darkness did nothing to help her see.
At least there were no chains on her wrists as she lay on a raised stone platform.
She swiftly got up and let her legs dangle from the platform, which appeared to be a makeshift bed made up of a stone slab. Her head hurt as if someone was hammering a nail through her skull. A wave of dizziness made her sit still, and she took a few deep breaths to steady herself.
She tried to recollect what had happened.
Her crazy heart picked up pace as she remembered Jeremy’s call just before she took off with Lukie’s car. Her visit to Scarlet’s place and the attack!
