Chapter 6
Unsettled by the eerie half dark, Rafe followed close behind the two other men through the dim hallway. Lowther must have ordered limited power use to preserve it for essentials. He waited as the caretaker fumbled with a key card and unlocked the doors of the rooms assigned to him and Grant. Expecting to be given the key, Rafe was surprised when the man pocketed it. “Um, don’t I need that?”
The caretaker’s face reddened. “I’m sorry, sir, but residents are not issued individual key cards. The door will remain unlocked, but I have to return this card to the dorm supervisor.”
Rafe considered pressing the point, but was it worth it? After all, drawing attention to himself right before embarking on a breaking and entering mission wasn’t the wisest idea.
