Six Years Later Kammie Pov. The sound of my car engine came to a stop as I pulled up into the driveway. My gaze travelled upward to the villa ahead and a smile crossed my lips. “It's beautiful” I murmured to myself not entirely to myself “Of course it is Kam, you spend your f*****g savings for this…” Bettany cursed out through the phone, I'd no doubt she definitely rolled her eyes while saying that “It's worth it… “I chuckled “Because Ronan said so,” She pointed out bluntly. “Yeah…. you should have seen the look on his face..” Bettany scoffed “I’d rather watch a bunch of rom-coms than see his face for a day…” “Come on…” I groan softly, grabbing my car keys and purse. This wasn't the first time I’d had this conversation with her, and it wouldn't be the last either. She hates Ronan for some reason; these two never get along, at least he tries, but my overprotective best friend won't give him a chance. I have to make this work. “You know nothing's gonna change the way I feel about him, Kam. You're way too good for him. “Her voice rang out in that lecturing tone again. I let out a breath stepping out. “Yes, Mom. I understand your point. But please bett.. You gotta loosen up. He's my fiancé for gawd sake. We have a wedding in two days… “ She doesn't respond. Of course, she wouldn't. Silence was stressed out followed by a heavy sigh from her. “ Fine…” I sighed in relief. “ Thank you. “ “I'm not promising I won't kill him if he messes up, though.” “Yeah yeah. Sure. But he won't Bett. Believe me when I say he’s good for me. “ “Okay” Her tone shifted considerably. “As long as you're happy that's all that matters..” “Thanks bett. “Don't mention it. “Gotta go, see you in two days.” “ Yeah, you too.” I hung up first as I walked into the entrance. Stopping at the receptionist's table, I glanced up seeing a lady dressed in a black and white formal uniform, lips effortlessly pressed with pink lip gloss. “How can I help you, Miss? “ She lifted her gaze from the laptop briefly before looking back down. “Hi… I’m Kammie Jones. I purchased this building last year… “You're kidding right? “ She cut off with a sneer on her face, finally tearing her gaze from her laptop. I blinked frowning. “ Does it look like I'm? “ Her brows ceased with a look that made my skin crawl. What the hell was wrong with her? All I wanted was to get the keys, check, and make sure everything is set for our honeymoon. From the look of it. She was new here. The landlord had informed me about the receptionist's changes but didn't mention how rude she was. She tilted her head at me.“Miss. I'm very aware that this building has already been purchased, the buyer bought this place online, and right now as I'm speaking Mr Lorence has already checked in with his soon-to-be bride, Kammie Jones. “ I furrowed my brows. “I'm sure you're mistaken. I'm Kammie Jones. Mr Lorence is my fiancé and he never told me he was visiting. “ She pursed her lips crossing her arm above her chest.“I have seen such excuses, Miss. This is not my first time throwing out homeless people around. This is not a luxury hotel. It’s already been bought by its owner. If you're looking for a place for shelter, I'd suggest you find somewhere else before I call security. “ What the heck! Something dropped alongside my heart down to my guts as I comprehend her words Something was wrong. I bought this villa last year, barely had time to visit because of my busy schedule, and Ronan only did on weekends “This has to be a misunderstanding… “ My voice trailed off “I can say so.” She rolled her eyes. Using someone else's name for something like this could get you arrested Miss, Please kindly leave before things get serious..” My breath quickens but I pressed further “You're mistaken. I bought this villa online last April. “ I said firmly this time “I have the transaction receipts… She blinked caught off guard. And I smiled, propping my chin upward. “Maybe you should take a better look and verify what ownership looks like before denying access to the real buyer.” The look of surprise only stayed on her face for not more than a minute replaced by a look of confusion as she glanced through her laptop then back to my face. And that look. I didn't like it one bit. She turned her laptop to me, clicking on a button, and the screen loaded, and then she pointed at something. The checklist. And sure as she said it reads. “Mr Lorence and Miss Kammie Jones .” I stared at the screen. At the proof. My heart sank. “This isn't right. Mr Lorence is my fiancé, “ I smiled even as it didn't actually reach my eyes. “ He must have visited sooner to check things and may have clocked my name in awareness that I was going to show up. “ Her face deepens with a scowl. “Aah, no miss. He came with a woman who claimed she bought this villa online and he further emphasized that she was his fiancée before leaving and ordering no one get in” A look of pity flashed across her face. “Now I know why. Miss if you're the third wheel here, I'd gladly tell you to back off. “She squeezed my arm dismissively. “Holding a grudge and using his wife's name just to see him is highly illegal. Please, I really don't want any trouble, so do cooperate with me and leave. “ I took a shaky breath. For the first time since I got in here, my chest tightened with panic swelling deep down my stomach. Ronan’d left this morning for a business meeting after driving me to work today. There was simply no way he could be here with another woman using my name. Ronan would never do that. He’d never been caught with another lady for the past six years and definitely not today, not when it's just two days before our grand wedding. “I need to see this for myself. “ I insisted even as my fingers shook slightly, nearly dropping my car keys to the ground. I couldn't breathe. “And I need to inform you. “She averted her gaze with no interest as she resumed typing rapidly on her laptop” Security will be here in five minutes. My stomach dropped as Bettany's earlier words rang through my skull. “I don't trust him, Kam. He's way too good for you. “ She'd said that a couple more times than I remember and I hadn't thought much about it because she‘d never liked Ronan ever since we dated but now it all crashed into my brain with an unexpected reality. Had she found anything suspicious about him? The thought of Ronan cheating on me suddenly made my lungs stop functioning well. No this wasn't possible. Not after everything. For a few minutes. I just stared into the blank space, unshed tears gathering slowly beneath my eyebrows. My purse suddenly felt heavy and my lips hurt badly from how hard I'd chew on them nervously. My legs hurt from standing on heels for the past few minutes. I have to find out I pulled out my phone quickly searching for the receipts. Then I slid my phone towards her, finding the pic of the full transaction. She stopped typing, her eyes darting to the proof. Her brow raised taking a closer look. “Ooooo “ She murmured feigning concern, looking for the second time before meeting my gaze with disbelief. “I didn't realize Miss Jones, I must have mistaken you with someone else’s. “ She coughed slightly clearing her throat. “I'm new here as you can see. Please forgive my manners, I'll lead you inside now. “ Aaaah no. I'm getting her fired once things are sorted out. Her lack of acknowledgement was nothing compared with her lack of respect. She just nearly kicked me out of the room with the grave insults. I watched as she stepped out of the counter with the keys in one hand. She flashes an apologetic smile in my direction. “ I apologize again. “ I smiled back, not hiding my intentions. “It's no issue dear. Just do me a favour and drop your resignation letter tomorrow.“ She dropped her gaze to the floor “Yes ma'am..” I followed, each step heavy with anxiety. “Maybe he brought someone in for decorations” I said to myself. “It has to be” But I couldn't say that out loud. Because it sounded awfully ridiculous and stupid. He’d joked about changing a few things but I knew this wasn't about decorations. He was here with a mysterious woman as his fiancée. The elevator opens with a ding. “Mmmmmmm…oooo gawd. Right there, feel so f*****g good baby. “The familiar voice broke me out of daze. “You feel so amazing, Monica.“Ronan's voice followed with a deep groan. The sound of skin slamming in and out filled the air, the room smelled of s*x and alcohol. No. No. No. This can't be happening. My legs wobbled as I moved into the sitting room. And there I saw them.
