"You indirectly caught the robber. You are the one that turned him in." Mr. Ray said. Jasmine sighed in relief that she didn’t have to deal with the robber's case again. Mr. Ray dropped the bombshell by placing a file in front of her. She glanced at it and saw pictures of dead politicians, including the man she had attended his masquerade ball. Fear gripped her.
"You know him?" he asked, pointing at the same man.
"I..I don’t." She stuttered.
"You don’t need to be afraid. I am not going to blame you for his murder. However, I heard you attended the masquerade ball. For what reason?" He asked, placing his hand on the table and moving his face closer to hers.
"My partner and I were just investigating Mr. Tran's father's murder," Jasmine replied.
"I know you are a beautiful and smart detective, but who calls the shots in this company?" he asked, looking into her eyes.
"You," she muttered.
"If you don’t want to lose your job, tell me everything before you do it," he scolded. Jasmine was about to speak when he interrupted her.
"And one more thing, that case isn’t yours, although you arrived at the crime scene to collect evidence," he stated.
"Since I can’t handle the case, tell the person behind the case to tell Mr. Tran to stop calling me," Jasmine said, and her phone beeped. She glanced at her phone under the desk. It was a text from Caleb. "How is it going? You have been in there for ages."
"Miss Robinson, are you paying attention to me?" Mr. Ray asked. She quickly hid her phone and looked up at him.
"Since you don’t have any cases you have been handling recently, I have the most important job for you." He said, and snapped his finger.
Two employees walked into the office as if they had been waiting for his signal and set up the projector for them.
"You may leave." Mr. Ray said, dismissing the employees. He grasped the remote from his desk and switched on the projector, displaying images of politicians who were brutally murdered. Jasmine gasped.
"Look closely at these images. What have you noticed?" he asked.
"They are all politicians," she said.
"Smart, but that’s not what I wanted you to say. Their locations for killing and styles of killing are the same. Check this out. This one was murdered in his car. The other one was murdered in his bedroom. The same scene for the other ones." Mr. Ray said.
"Does this mean they are being murdered by the same person?" Jasmine asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You can say that again." Mr. Ray commented.
"Hmm, this is quite strange. I witnessed one of the murders and also found two cards with "devil’s breed" written on them," Jasmine said.
Mr. Ray opened his drawer and took out five Devil’s Breed cards and dropped them on the table.
"You mean this," he said.
"Yes, that is it. We can look for fingerprints and use them to catch them," Jasmine said, picking up one of the cards from the desk. Mr. Ray smirked and shook his head.
"Do you think the criminal is that dumb? There are no fingerprints on these cards." Mr. Ray said.
"But I saw a fingerprint on a recent one," she said.
"Where is it?" Mr. Ray asked in a loud tone.
Leonardo was swimming in the water of his pool. He swam to the edge of the pool and rested there, stroking his hair backward as the maids in his house admired him from afar.
He stepped out of the pool, exposing his expensive shorts, which had "devil’s breed" written on them, and his owl flew to him and rested on his shoulder.
Levi and Olivia started running towards him. His butler ran to him and put a golden robe around his back as he slid his hand through them.
"What’s the next target?" he asked in a cold tone. Levi approached him with an iPad and started showing him the picture of their next target.
"He always visits the club at night at 9 pm," Levi said.
"Hmm, I didn’t know these politicians were horny bastards," Leonardo commented, glancing at him.
"I will take care of the target this time," Leonardo said, walking towards the mansion.
"I think we should pick another location to kill him. I don’t think we can kill someone in a nightclub and go scot-free," Olivia said.
"Is there another place he likes to go? That we don’t have to deal with his security? Because there is a lot of blood on my hands, I don’t want to murder someone else." Leonardo remarked.
"That’s the only place, boss. Stay out of this dude," Levi said, glaring at Olivia.
"You guys can go home today." Leonardo dismissed them.
Levi put his hand around Olivia’s shoulder and started walking towards his submarine with her. "Dude, we are going to go undercover, right?" he asked with an evil grin.
"Nah, I think the boss will get angry." She muttered. "What if he doesn’t know?" he said with a smug smile.
Rumbles of thunder were heard in the sky. The clouds darkened, indicating that there was going to be rain. The maids in Leonardo’s house were running back and forth organizing things so they could go home before the rain started.
Leonardo stood at his window, putting his owl to sleep in a huge cage that was next to the window. He didn’t care if it was going to be rainy. He was determined to kill the politician, but since today wasn’t going to be like a regular day, he was having mixed feelings about whether the politician would go to the club.
Jasmine got up from the chair, shaking hands with her boss.
"You know how to deal with badass serial killers. I trust you. The mayor of this city is sponsoring you on this one. We couldn’t think of a better detective for this job." Mr. Ray said. Jasmine was overwhelmed with joy as she shook him. She had just been given an extremely dangerous job catching the person that had been murdering politicians, and if she managed to solve the riddle, she would be promoted at work and also rewarded with a huge sum of money by the mayor, which she could use to enter showbiz.
