Maggie tried to focus on her food but her stomach twisted into a knot of hurt, anger and uncertainty. She couldn’t go through this again. She wouldn’t. She didn’t want to know the truth but she wasn’t going to sit here and pretend nothing was wrong. “Are you still sleeping with her.” Her words were whisper soft—scared that this weekend which was supposed to be the start of a new aspect to their life was actually going to be its end.
“Excuse me?” Terry’s fork froze on its way to his mouth.
“You heard me.” She looked up at him.
“I thought you didn’t want to talk about it.”
“I changed my mind.” She put down her spoon and wiped her mouth on the napkin.
