Episode 16

The day of her travel, people from all over the world came to witness it but only Royalties and elites were allowed cross pass the palace entrance.

They had learnt their lessons from what happened the other time.

Only ugomu was present as uchayi had resigned.

Ugomu cried all through the night to the morning of travel.

"please change your mind my princess" but Ego had made her decisions.

"I have caused enough trouble for the palace already". She replied.

Aluka the chief priest has also arrived and set a big pot for preparations for her travel.

Ego was in great shock when she saw Prince Awene approaching.

"I never knew you would come" Ego told him.

prince Awene feigns a smile and said "I didn't knew either but i guess there is still need to atleast see you off. This is just crazy" He shut his eyes in disbelief, fighting his emotions "I really don't know what to say Ego" he opened his eyes "you are one person l find really mysterious but fascinating".

Ego smiled, he bit his lips and looked around "I can't find your brother ubonwa".

"My brother is not here, I don't think he's coming" Prince Awene threw her an insinuating gaze. "He blames me for what happened to his wife".

Prince Awene smirked "No just him. Everyone does." snapped his finger at his guard and he brought forth a folded cloth. He gave it to Ego "what's inside" she asked inquistively as she collected it.

"A gift from me" he winked.

Ego pressed in the cloth, it felt like a balled shaped thing. "This is strong like coconut" gives him a stern gaze "Don't tell me you gave me a coconut". Prince Awene shaked his head "Can I open it" Prince Awene nodded. Ego unfolded the cloth and brought out a small rounded golden stone. She picked it to her face and admired it.

"it is beautiful".

"they are only two pieces of this stone in the world. I have one and now you have the other".

Ego smiled "I like it".

prince Awene grinned "I am pleased".

"You still believe the future isn't real" Ego flattered.

"Trust me. you are still here. You can only be there when it is time". prince Awene said.

Ego asked with a stern expression "How do you mean?".

He looked deeply into her eyes and said.

"The priest" Ego turned back to see the priest waving at her to come.

She nodded at him, folded the golden stone back to the cloth, then went to hug his brothers and sisters good bye. It was very difficult for ugogbe to let go of Ego.

They had provided her with loads of foodstuff but she refused to take any.

"I would eat whatever they have in the future".

Ugomu had prepared her clothes but she refused them too

"uchayi said she they don't wear the same cloth as we do. I will dress like them".

So they provided her with bag of cowries, which she hang cross shoulder on her body.

cowries were used in those days as means of exchange .

"I have enough cowry to buy everything I need in the future" She said.

Aluka had set the pot and asked the to put her in.

"wait princess" he halt Ego. He took a substance in his bag and blew it on her face. Immediately Ego became calm and irresponsive.

The princes got concerned at the changes on Ego

"why is she numb" one of the Princes asked.

Aluka replied " To save her from shock of new life she will see. The future is no doubt incredibly. She need the numbness to withstand shock."

They took Ego into the pot. The cries increased, Ugomu couldn't withstand it, so she ran off. Prince obiako followed her.

After some incantation, Aluka took a huge stone from the floor and threw it on the pot.

It broke into pieces, but to everyone's amusement, Ego had disappeared.

Ugogbe fainted. They rushed, picked her and took her to a place to resuscitate her.

"When did you say she would be back" Prince Afere asked the chief priest.

Aluka squinted towards him and laughed.

"You still don't understand".

"understand what?" Prince Ikedi snapped from behind.

"Ego is never coming back" Aluka said and immediately Aluka walked away.

The princes sat of the bare floor and wiped. Prince Awene walked to the spot of broken pot pieces, his eyes were already covered with tears. He knelt down, for each piece of the pot he took, he kissed it.

Suddenly a palace guard ran in screaming in joy.

"the king has awaken"
