A muscular man entered the palace carrying uchayi on his shoulder, with Ego and Ugomu running behind him. The palace guards took uchayi from him from his shoulders, because strangers are not allowed into the palace. "To my hut. Take her to my hut" Ego commanded them. The incident drew a scene as gossip began to fly around the palace. Prince Akudo who was nearby rushed out "What happened?" he asked one of the palace servants. "I don't know my prince, but I think she fainted" the servant answered. "Who is she" Prince Akudo inquired with an expression of curiosity. "I think is uchayi" the servant replied. "uchayi uchayi. Which uchayi" Prince Akudo paused to remember "Oh Ego's maid" he said in shock, "how? What about my sister is she okay?". The servant nodded and replied "Yes She was heading to her hut". Prince Akudo gave a sign of relief "okay" he then hurriedly rushed to Ego's hut. It has been days since uchayi got into comma, the village physician had come and assured she will be fine. uchayi was laid in princess Ego's room and was looked after by Ego and ugomu. ugomu herself was surprised that Ego could be that nice and caring. She had stopped going for the evening tale just to be beside uchayi. That night, after she and Ego had rubbed oil on uchayi so she would feel warm, Ego had permitted her to go. ugomu had helped to clean up the hut before she left. She poured more oil into her lamp and said to Ego, who was taking off her beads to go to bed. "Kachifo Adaeze" "Good night princess" Ego nodded "ka obonu" "Good night". Then Ego left the hut and started heading to her hut, which she shared with other uchayi and its a bit off from the rows of royal huts. Lamp woods were burning and hanged at different corners of the hut for illumination. She ran into some servants on her way and they exchanged pleasantries, she walked passed the palace guards both the ones walking round the palace and the ones at static positions at different corners of the palace. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder touching her from behind, she shrieked, jerked in fear, dropping her lamp in shock. "Calm down it's me" she froze in disbelief at the familiar deep. Prince obiako bent over and picked her lamp, blew off the sand from it "where is your mind? why were do that scared like that?" He asked as he went to light back her lamp from the nearby burning wood. ugomu was speechless, she could barely feel her legs, he came back and handed her lamp back to her. His bare chest were full and masculine, his gaze on her was torturing, she wished she was dreaming so she could wake up. Her hands were vibrating as she took the lamp from him. She could see his face more clearly now. "Ndewo nwaeze" "Greetings my prince" she stammered, not sure it was still her voice. Prince obiako's eyes were deep, flattering and twinkling in the night that ugomu was almost lost in them. He exhaled and said calmly with a stern look. "How are you?" "I am fine my prince" ugomu replied. "What is going on?" He asked, daring into her. "Nothing" she replied. Prince obiako exhaled and said again softly in a soothing voice "I will not ask again and I need you to be sincere to me. I shouldn't be here. I have a lot to handle at the field but because of this thing I heard, this thing that happened got me bothered and restless. Please give me some peace of mind and tell me what is going on". ugomu was speechless, her lips became too heavy for her to move it. "Please nne I need you to tell me why your friend is lying unconsciously in my sister's hut" He said softly. "She fell and head her head" ugomu stammered. Prince obiako chuckled and responded. "This morning when you and your princess left for the stream, I entered her hut. I thoroughly examined uchayi to confirm you people's story but I didn't see any single scratch on her body" surge of fear gripped ugomu as Prince obiako spoke. "You see I have never believed this story you and Ego told everyone. Ego is my sister and I know her very well. I also know you people were at the shrine when this happened. I will respect what you and Ego decided on this, well because the physicians said she will be fine". ugomu nodded awkwardly "thank you my prince". Prince obiako smirked and said "Let me help you with your lamp. Your arm must be aching. ugomu couldn't resist, she was cajoled. She handed it over to him, he smiled at her and said. "Next time, tell any of the guards to escort you back to your hut, if you ever going late like this, but tonight, I will take you to your hut". ugomu felt this cold chill in her body, she couldn't believe this was happening. "You may lead the way" he said, ugomu nodded and moved. Her legs were shaky that she began to stagger and almost tripped, Prince obiako caught her by her waist for her not to fall. "Easy" he told her soflty then held her by her hands and walked her back to her hut.
